I like the POG, can't find much anything that competes imo. Many bitch, say it sounds "fake" blah blah. Probably rig-dependent like everything. Mine sounds tits, then wrap it in enough fuzz and haters stop talking shit real fast. Some pedals can pull off bits and pieces but nothing will completely cover it, beat out my HOG even.

Yeah, I actually think most of the charm of a lot of the digital octave pedals is that they DO sound "fake", whatever that means. I still the love the things the Whammy did, and often wish I still had it... it was more useful to me when I was doing more looping.

I've kept the Octron because it has a really killer, very easily-stackable octave up, and the octave down is more like a note-doubler (while the octave up is pretty straight ahead overdriving octave up kinda stuff).

The Whammy didn't track very well, but it made sounds that no other pedal I've had can do. It became part of my sound, and it was fun. Look for something like that! (unique and fun)

You got it right... that exactly what it is.
I'm now using the Pocket Arcade from FuzzHugger(fx) as my octave up.

I have nothing against the digital stuff, nothing track as good as the POG or MicroPOG. It's just not the sound I'm looking for.

I love my organizer to death. Seriously... I might sexually be in love with it. I want another pitchy octave thing but i don't know what or even why.

The Super Shifter is one of the few pedals I've thought about getting again after ditching. I wouldnt' compare it to the POG, though, but it also does things the POG won't. It's more like a really small Whammy.

The PS-6 is close but julius_deane is right, more like a small whammy
I just put it head to head with my OG Pog and ended up getting rid of it
The Pog just has a certain sound and feeds a fuzz well

I love my whammy but the new one coming out is probably better if you need the Polyphonic

My First octave up and down setup was awesome but it was glitchy
I ran a DOD Octoplus into a pigtronics Disnortion, that setup put out some incredible glitchy sounds with a muff in the middle

Octoplus can usually be grabbed on the cheaps and an octavia effect on the back end of it makes some crazy sounds

I think every pedal board needs at least two pitch effects and some filters
