the manual mode sounds like the hypnotic setting on my rocktron flanger. it'd be interesting to compare. i'd like to see a video of the random flange

It's basically like the random phaser setting from the Empress or the Prometheus random filter mode. I'm sure more demos will be coming out once more people buy the pedal, but you can hear the random mode on the Prymaxe Vintage demo on Youtube. It's what made me buy the pedal, other than the fact that I have been looking for a good flanger to try for a couple of years now that wasn't too big or silly.

Funnily enough, I prefer the sounds of the flanger, but the features of the phaser make it real nice and a lot more usable. It's got a very 'bubbly' and bouncy tone, unlike the warmth and vintage-ness of the Whetstone I had previously.

Has anyone run it up against another well respected flange? Be interesting to see how good it actually sounds as a flange next to something like an MXR

I'm gonna be doing a flanger line-up in some future demos. It definitely sounds great, but has its own unique personality (as most Subdecay pedz do)

are there any other well respected flanges?

seems to be an area of pedal building thats been severely neglected

I think the Boss BF-2, BF-2B and the HF-2 are great flangers. The MXR EVH flanger is also sweet, as is the (massive) Ibanez Paul Gilbert Airplane flanger. Never played an EHX electric mistress, but they are supposed to rule. The toadworks flanger sounds great (never played it either) and it has an expression pedal input. There are heaps of cool flangers out there, but not many boutique ones. The only dedicated flanger I can think of before the starlight is the Frostbite. Jack Deville had the Mod Zero, which did a bit of everything, but it's dead now (god damnit!).

IMO the best flange out there by a country mile is the Moogerfooger flange.......

Never tried a Moogerfooger - they take up so much realestate I didn't dare just in case I loved it...
