BUH. JUST WHEN I THOUGHT MY MIND WAS MADE UP. How has it held up? Like a tank? Would you suggest turning the tweeter off/disconnecting it as well?

I've toured extensively with it as my only cab, and it's pretty much the only part of my rig that I know won't stop working at any time. It's actually covered in blood right now, and still works just fine. And, yeah, tweeter sounds terrible, but it has a knob to roll of the tweeter. I just keep it all the way down.

If you don't mind used, you can score a used Avatar 2-12 neo for about $300 on TB. I use an Avatar 2-12 and really dig it. I just turn the tweeter down to where it is clicked on, but not putting out any volume. If tweeters are left off for extended periods of time it messes them up, I mean maybe you'll sell the cab someday. Also like already mentioned, unhooking it changes the ohms a tad, so I just leave it pretty much turned off.

I have had a GK 4-10 neo and sounded great too...

Is the 2x12 comparable in size to a 4x12 guitar cab? It looks a bit bigger than the 1x12 being a staggered setup

It's definitely smaller than a 4x12. It's almost exactly the same size as my Carvin 4x10, just like an inch taller. Here is an Avatar 212 next to a 410.

Sent a few of these same questions to Avatar. Also I inquired with Emperor about a 1x12 bass cab for kicks. We will see what Emperor says as well

Spoke to Ben Verellen of Verellen amps who said they could build a small sealed 1x12 cab and put an Eminence Delta 4ohm speaker in it- $550. Any thoughts?

If that's what you want to spend, I'd go for that. There aren't many sealed bass cabs, and Verellen stuff looks awesome.

Now, being sealed would lend for tighter bass, correct? Any thoughts on the Eminence Delta?

Got some answers back from Dave at Avatar:

1. Disconnecting the tweeter doesn't change the ohm of the cab (hi five to Achtane)
2. He doesnt think that with the tweeter disconnected/almost off it will project enough
3. He also doesn't think guitar sounds decent through a bass cab (personal opinion)

He shared some of your thoughts in thinking that a 2x12 might last a little longer/share some wear and tear compared to a 1x12

Yeah, or even less bass making it seem tighter. You may or may not like that. Sorry not familiar with the Eminence Delta.

I kinda agree. Except for the old cabs/speakers from the '70s. Those sounded good for everything. It makes me wonder if those speakers had frequency responses that weren't as low as modern speakers. I'd almost be tempted to get a 15" for a guitar, like a Big Ben, and try using that for double duty. I think Ancient Astro has three in one of his Emperor's...maybe he could chime in on that for bass/guitar.

EDIT: Sorry for adding those last two sentences. Making things more confusing than they need to be.

I've had an Ampeg 115 cab that I really enjoyed and actually just got rid of. My guitar sounded pretty decent through it... Hmmm. Eminence makes a 4 ohm version of their 15 as well......

I guess I should mention the only reason I got rid of the 115 cab was it was 8 ohms and the head is 4 ohms

My thought about a 1x15 is that it might be better suited to handle bass than driving a single 12". I remember really liking how my tone got kind of dark on guitar while using the 1x15 as well
