B) Jazz basses sound like eunuchs compared to a fucking proper P-bass.

Also, the P bass will stand erect when You stand it against Your amp, like a man, on its own. The same can't be said of the offset body Jazz bass.

au contraire. i reiterate: the "neck" PU on the Jazz Bass is about an inch closer to the fingerboard, and as such will deliver a different tone than the P-Bass "neck" PU because it's going to sense the harmonics differently even though it's electronically identical. this is true of any kind of PU.

Do we even actually know if they've the same pickups?

Yeah, they both have humbuckers, but the product descriptions call 'em by different names.

Marketing or do they truly have the same specs?

They probably are the same, but I'm not sure.
The MP Jazz is made in China and the BT P is made in Mexico so they could very well be different.
The bridges are the only other noticeable difference that hasn't already been mentioned.
I plan on checking them both out at GC before I buy, which probably won't be for a few months.

I love a good ole stanky P bass sound but I guess it depends on what kind of tunes you are digging at the moment.

Yeah, probably tell you all you need to know.

I'd still go with the P and it seems to have the more interesting bridge of the two.

^that... and don't overlook the importance of physical weight when it comes to sustain and a big low end.

But, P basses without a P pickup just seem wrong to me.

I'd say P Bass but that's not a real P Bass.

The P if you remove one of the volumes and add a 3-way switch.
I just like the way Ps look more and blending the pickups via individual volumes usually gives toans too subtle for me to care about.
