I believe you need the Source Audio MIDI-EXP thingy to convert it into a usable midi-out or expression-out signal. And I think that thinger is out-of-production at the moment, cause they're redesigning it or something.

yah. i thought the converter thing JUST sent out MIDI? dunno.
also, wonder if other pedals would react as smooth to such fast movement? with the Expressionator if you have it set at the binary on/off setting it's going 0 then 127 (100? whatever's the top limit output for exp pedals.) then 0 then 127 then 0 then 127.... works fucking AWESOME with some pedals, not so well with some others.
but yeah. a hot hand for EVERYthing would be pretty damn cool.

Totally agree, that's why I have both myself. I just can't get the BEF to do those phat frequency sweeps that you can with the Xero.
oh FUCK yeah. the BEF is neat. but the Xero just gets so damn LOW. the Brain Freeze is like that too, but with some crazy grit to it. so much good.
SmallAssSmackingEq's - do you think you'd miss a lot going from the Pro to the Standard BEF? so far i only like pretty much the same settings in 2-pole mode and 4-pole mode. kinda thinking about downgrading for the room saved. but i don't use the eq's so far. also, is the BEF 2 version coming out soon? murrrrrrrrrrr? whatcha think?

The website says that it also has:
Flexible digital resistor expression output with Tip/Ring switch.

If you're not tweaking any of the backpage paremeters and you are not using the LFO, I don't see why the regular BEF wouldn't work for you. The SB2 version is coming, but I don't have any knowledge as to when. It won't have the LFO and should be capable of all the same sounds. It should have some added tweakability over the standard version, but other than that I don't know much. In your place I might just go ahead and pick up a standard version, you can always flip it fairly easily if you decide you want the SB2 version when it comes out.
