None of their records need a remaster, y'all are mistaken.
Especially if your definition of "remaster" is "make it louder."

Nope. My definition of remaster is getting "Isn't Anything" to actually have some frequencies above 6 kHz. Maybe sounding more "right" in a conventional sense wouldn't work, but the lousy audio quality is a drag on the music in that album. I want to hear that one. "Loveless" and the "Glider" and "Tremolo" sound great as-is, tho.

Looks like Mssr. Shields has some pretty stringent definitions of remaster as well - the Loveless re-release is going to consist of two CDs, each one mastered differently.

If amything, it is waaay too quiet. I need that music loud enough in my headphones to drown out everything else, like sensory deprivation. A lot of great albums, I have realised in recent years are too quiet, and thankfully have at least been made louder after remastering. Mogwai did it with Young Team, and the Smashing Pumpkins reissues are the same, and better for it.
... So you want them to compress the shit out of it and make it sound worse than the original? Cause that's what "making it louder" means.

He should look to Roger Glover for reissue advice.... that Machine Head 2xCD was fucking awesome. Original version lovingly (and lightly) remastered, plus bonus tracks on disc one, his remix/remaster (which is actually AWESOME as well) on disc two.....
A/B'd to the original LP, the version on disc one still sounds awesome. And the booklets are full of cool pictures and insightful liner notes
I guess though, that's why Deep Purple are the greatest band in the history of time.....

I just bought Isn't Anything for 5 dollars on CD the other day. I can understand wanting a remastering of it, but I still enjoy it.

Just downloaded a torrent of the whole lot. I can upload it to somewhere if anybody wants it.

No thanks, Since Kevin actually will own these versions (part of the reason for the long wait was sorting out legal issues and "finding" the master tapes) I think I'll buy it.

Today's the day guys; Both versions of Loveless, the new Isn't Anything, and the collection of EP's and unreleased material are out. Unfortunately, they're only in the UK at the moment so my US bound brothers will have to wait.

That's a shame.

Hearing that they're remastered their stuff has rekindled my love for them. Here's hoping for a tour, not holding my breath though..
