I'm using a Lab Series L11 with a cab loaded with Eminence Texas Heats. I think it plays pretty nicely with distortion so yeah, it'll probably work out. I'm actually pretty happy with my distortion, so I didn't really take notice of the Elements (I'd like crossed off the "get good distortion" thing), but then when I read the description of the Elements I was just super impressed. I'm currently using a Pisdiyauwot with an eq before to cut the bass and boost the mids, and an eq after to fine tune everything - and that's pretty much how the Elements is designed (I think!) so I got all excited and have started saving Will have to check when we are going into the studio and adjust my saving rate accordingly...
Oh yeah, thanks for the really quick reply Ryan. I've lurked a bit and see the way you treat your fans/customers/prospective customers and you're in a class of your own!

That’s quarter-assed at best.

That's a good question about the solid stateness... I don't really know, I'm sorry. I have an old Music Man amp that has a solid state front end with tube power section and I think the Elements sounds awesome on it.
I think how good a distortion pedal sounds with any amp depends a lot on eqing and speakers... and if you generally think distortion/fuzz sounds cool with your amp then I'll betcha you'll think the same with the Elements.
What kind of amp are you using? Maybe someone around here has experience with it?
I had a Music man combo amp that was the only amp I have ever owned that sounded great with a Boss Metal Zone. All other pedals didn't sound good through it much at all. Seems like that style of make amp is great for some thunderous type of tones, especially being able to play at good bedroom volumes where you still can get a great amount of pleasure playing! I imagine The Elements sounds killer through it!
greigoroth wrote:Has anyone tried The Elements with a decent solid state amp? All of the demos I've heard have been with tooobz but I'm a fan of solid state, at least at the moment I am. I'd be predominantly playing the high gain side of things. Not sure if this should have been a new thread or not (I'm also new).
This may not relate to you specifically because it's a bass rig but I use SS amps, with a tube pre, and The Elements sounds FANASTIC. So much so that I'm seriously considering another one. That way I'll have one for a slight overdrive and one for more nastyness...
Welcome to ILF, cheycaster! The thing I find the most cool about my Music Man head is that it has a crazy deep and intense phaser effect built in, pretty wild sounding. I use it with a 2x12 cab and it's a sweet rig although I have hard time balancing the clean and distorted tones, clean sounds so much better with the bright switch but I don't like what that does to the sound of distortion/fuzz pedals. Small complaint though!
well I play a solidstate, it's a PCL-Vintageamp, handmade in Germany and it really likes all kinds of pedals. The only thing that didn't work so well was a Wampler Triple Wreck, which was way too bassy (is that a word?). But I read that I'm not the only one with that problem. So if anyone needs good ss-amps just check this company out, they're making some high quality stuff!
Yeah, they usually don't go to musikmesse. They believe in natural growth and promotion from mouth to mouth. I don't think that there is even one amp on your side of the pond. The designer made Mesa Mark 1 copies with his own touch about 30 years ago and is making solidstate for about 20 years. Snd the prices are amazing, you get. 30W combo for about 400 euros! Would be a nice alternative for greigoroth. You can check out my youtube channel for soundsamples youtube.com/user/Janesch
Oh yeah, I posted some lengthier stuff in the bday thread, but the Elements rules through the Lab Series. The other guitarists in the band have a JCM800 and a 5150 (yes, we have three guitarists) and the Elements has its own voice but does not sound out of place in that company.

Yep, I'd say without a doubt - but we've also got a sound that's tweaked for three guitarists, so we've got three different approaches to create a bit of space in the mix. The way I've got it EQ'd it's closer in sound to the 5150 than the Marshall, but with the mids switch you could probably dial in something more Marshally. But I also want to reiterate, it sounds like the Elements. The timbre of your guitar is still present though, which is nice. But if you're on the fence Centre of Gravity should have some new stuff out by the end of the summer and you can hear how it sits in the mix. We've got a gig on Tuesday but I'm not sure if there's any way for us to get a decent recording. But I'll post some stuff if I can.

If somebody asked me if the Elements can cut through a mix I'd ask them if a bear goes poop in the woods... cause the answer is definitely yes to both questions.
