i think so....one of my musical idols plays one occasionally, but then again it's not like you see one every day

I played a guitar like that built by Chip Todd (dude that designed the T series Peaveys) and it was pretty cool. Really had a unique sound to it. It might be rad to build one and put a scalloped neck on, use a cool tuning...

when I saw him live a couple months ago he was using some les paul junior looking guitar with a (fake?)humbucker and a vox pathfinder
basically shitty guitar + shitty small ass tube amp = sweet sweet shitty toanz
