This. If this allowed you to use a program on the iPhone to create insane sounds then that would be really cool. I personally still wouldn't spend all that money on a freaking phone, but that's the way these ideas (this and tc toneprints, maybe some other stuff?) should go, not just emulating other things. I mean, the original pedals ALREADY EXIST so maybe buy those? :?:

THIS! ONE HUNDRED TIMES THIS!

This is exactly why Moog is knocking it out of the park with their iProducts - they take the core Moog philosophy and use the smart-device platform as a way to translate functionality that isn't easy to do with a physical product (or wouldn't be cost-effective).

I wish I could start a company with an ios devleoper & a sound engineer (or ten) to really unlock the potential of these products. That would be awesome.

Any volunteers? I can pay approximately nothing (but I'll cover pizza costs), and offer no benefits. C'mon, it'll be great! :p  :p

On the one hand it is pretty innovative on the other its yet another piece of technology where they are constantly
upgrading it so if you have any interest whatsoever you'll be struggling to keep up.

sonidero wrote:According to the "post your age" thread this is aimed at about 80% of our forum's demographics... Half the products at this years NAMM were i-related... Apple sold more ios devices last year than they have sold Mac's in 28 years... If it's not for you it's not for you but if we had a shitpuke thread for every dumb product we would never talk about anything else... I've worked for phone related companies for the past 12 years and I hate the phone so I'm not sticking up for this at all, just saying... I like my Flashback and you can load stuff on that, it's just the beginning of this area of the guitar world so don't hate too much... Or do it's all relative...

Nope never owned an Apple product in my life... I could give a shit, it's just silly to hate pedals cause they're not your style...

i think the problem is that you have things like AxeFX, which elwd (i think) and i discussed elsewhere, that is digital guitar processing that DEFINITELY has the potential for experimentation, and Dweezil shows that it does. its just that people throw a chunk of money at the brick and just expect to get amp/effect models rather than a different device. its a fixation on the past that ironically didn't really exist with guitar manufacturers at the time that they were trying to emulate.

which i think is hilarious

Your average guitar player doesn't want to take it to the next level, hence the market for such a product is niche at best. Plus, people have their comfort zone of familiar sounds, hence vintage gear fetishism.

i'm interested in this. Can it be used with other apps? (Moog would be very cool)
And they did something right: the use not the mic input!

Bumping the thread with the measured shitpuke responses duly noted, but two things to note:

1) Guitar Center is reportedly clearing the iStomp out for $50 in-store (not online so far).

2) All of the e-pedals except the Belew one are now free. The Belew one is $20, but fuck that noise for a $50 pedal.

May be worth $50 to have a stereo in-out multi pedal. May not.

I'd be curious to try it for $50. To me it doesn't seem any worse than beaming TonePrints for my Hall of Fame to it with my iPhone
