Anyway, there may be a couple other things, but since I don't use profanity anyway, I never really had to worry about the FCC.

Incidentally, ILF auto edits the n-word like most message boards I've been on, and I respect that. I never use that word and don't really have an issue using the phrase "the n-word" in this instance. It just reminds me of this Louis CK sketch about using "the n-word." Pretty funny stuff.

Oh yes, that's a constant battle. I've seen a lot of kids get into college radio because they like indie rock, which is fine. But then, they balk at the idea of keeping things eclectic with world, jazz, metal, and other kinds of music.

Shortwave radio bitch...no but seriously, it is neat to hear good music on the fm dial every once in a blue moon.

I've usually been moderately pleased when I head down to Austin and can pick up their radio stations. I can usually find something that doesn't suck too much.

Around here, though, it's pretty awful. The only good station is UNT's radio station, because it's a straight awesome jazz station.

Sort of on topic story time;

a few years ago a pirate fm station popped up in my small town playing trance and jungle. Was there maybe a week then disappeared never to be heard from again. Nobody knew who it was or where they were broadcasting from. I love mysterious shit like that, wish there were more awesome things like that in the world.

I've always wanted to start a roaming pirate station. Just drive around the US with a bus of people, broadcasting crazy music over the radio. A modern day Merry Pranksters, but without the drugs.

Broadcasting the concept to take back freedom of speech. That you can do whatever you want to with your life, you just have to do it. The only thing stopping you from doing everything you want is you.

But, I don't have the balls to run a roaming pirate station, and I don't have the money to afford it.

Other priorities, ya'all.

one day, I'll be a multi-millionaire. I will then buy Sirius XM, which will lose all affiliation with Bruce Springsteen. Pearl Jam will cease to have their own channel. There will be a new channel, called Before We Sucked, hosted by Isaac Brock from Modest Mouse. Deep Tracks will play choice cuts from Blue Cheer, King Crimson, Zappa, and Yes, rather than resign itself to being the burial mound for rare Rogaine Rock that it currently is. Also, would add old punk/hardcore channel
