For clean and versatile, Ring Thing. For simple and dirty, Android.

The Dan Armstrong Green Ringer is great for that 'dying battery' sound - small and cheap too. I had a Lovetone Ring Stinger for a while - amazing, but never actually found a use for it, whereas the EHX Freq. Anal. I use all the time...

Frequency Analyzer is the one I keep going back to after years and years; I have two (keep meaning to dump one since I don't have to have tour-related backups any more as a cripple).

It's quick to dial in, consistent, reliable, and plays well with other toys.

There are certainly weirder devices out there. There ar more versatile units. But it's consistent and makes me happy and is cheap and useful.

Pretty sure I'm getting the Moog this week, then waiting on Randy's Revenge for a shootout.
I'd love to try a Glacier, too, if I could find one.

yeah, but they cost a grand these days, at least.

True, but there are people building clones of it right?

Stanimal did. And Iron Ether did.

Personally i favour the Moog a bit more than the ring stinger - but they are quite different beasts to my ears...

I have a Ring Stinger, and it's messed up and all, but honestly, I'd trade it for my old Jen ring modulator (stolen back in '96) without a second thought.

I have Way Huge Ringworm, Android and Heliotrope and had Moog for a couple of days.
I absolutely in love with all the features of Ringworm. LFO that's actually useful, envelope ringmod, expression pedal and so on. And it sounds good too! The only thing that is annoying that you can always hear the carrier signal even when you're not playing. It can be used for music though. I run this oscillation with arpeggio LFO into distortion and using expression pedal you can make very cool noises.
Android is definitely not traditional ringmod. I used for overdrive-like sound which is very cool.
Moog is the best choise for traditional ringmod but it's huge, you know.
Heliotrope->Pitchfactor's harpeggiator = 8bit fun. I can spend hours only with these two effects.
I'm dying to try Randy's Revenge one day.

I have been having lots of fun with the ring mod on my m13 but it can sound a little too brittle at some settings. This is the only ringmod I have ever used so is their a warmer sounding one out there?
