That thing will pull of pretty much anything you have the patience and courage to dial in! The octave settings can go from pretty mellow to fucking nuts too. The whole pedal can for that matter. So good.

I dig the simplicity of it: two knobs and a mids switch.

Disregard the full size Gnome. Not sure if the mini-gnome does octaves though? That would be a solid option if it did....

Yeah... I think the Gnomeratron in any incarnation would probably be a little much. Seems like the Creepy Fingers Harakiri is the simplest of most of the clones (with the mids knob instead of the switch like on the BYOC clone) and has the most basic sound as far as like HERE'S THIS with a little tone shaping.

But so far the Foxx Tone Machine seems to be the classic octave up of choice!

Anyone actually really tried the HBE UFO? I'd love to hear any perspectives on that ass. And/or/also the Malekko Omicron Fuzz... a Super Fuzz.

Wattson if you have a bright amp, Creepy Fingers if you have a dark amp.

you can definitely get an octave up mini gnome.

Octave- Standard fuzz, with octave-up. Filtery, synthy octave up, and controls to better fit the octave.
Gain control on face
octave on/off and gate control on side
Octave-up

Synth- Stronger octave, and a harder square wave-- and a starve control on the fuzz to really synth things up.
Tone control on face
scoop/flat and starve control on side
Octave-up
Schottky clipping-- only on second stage

Magic- Magic Mode!
Tone control on face
Octave on/off and gate controls on side
Octave-up
LED and Schottky clipping diodes.

I use mine as an octave up for a JAMC are a bunch of pussies kind of sound.

If so, do you know, since there is a "scoop" knob instead of a two-way switch like the original Superfuzz, if full-CCW on the Scoop is like the original with the scoop switch down, and full-CW on the Scoop is like the original with the scoop switch up? And so like I mean anything inbetween is bonus Harakiri sounds?

What about the BYOC Leeds Fuzz? It's a Superfuzz clone without anything extra. Anyone tried one of those asses?

Something that I didn't really consider in my octave up search:

Should I just get a Micro POG or Infanem Second Voice? Both sound like solid options.

For those of you with the Second Voice... do you put it before or after fuzz? Does it have its own fuzz or do you just rely on your own pedals (preferred)? I'd mostly be running it with a RAT and a Big Muff... sound good with those?

Never tried the Second voice so I can't comment.
I've had a MicroPOG a while ago... stay away from this thing... it's aweful.
And it's not true bypass, so octave > fuzz won't work if your fuzz doesn't like buffer.

Other Options:

-FuzzHugger(fx), Phantom Arcade

Agreed the MicroPog ain't that great. Sounds were pretty good but that buffer is a god awful tone destroyer! The POG or POG2 are the only way to go if you're looking at that line of pedals.

The Second Voice rulez pretty hard (never tried a V2 with exp and CV btw) but it's probably the loudest pedal I've ever owned and definitely leans towards the gnarly, nasty, synthy side of things. It would make for some cool solos but I wouldn't buy it for that reason alone. It's not gonna add just a touch of "flavor". Instead it will blast the shit out of everything with unquestioned authority!

I run mine fairly early for improved tracking and it sounds fuckin' aggressive in instrument or fuzz mode really. It will stack but it's not necessary, thing has plenty o' balls! The range is nice, taking things from brutally piercing to synth bass fuzz territory. Don't really use the clean blend, don't like that sound honestly.

Last night I did a PCB layout for a Fender Blender but haven't built or etched it yet. I love my Tone Machine but wanted to try this one out since people seem to think it's pretty monstrous. I'll report back!
