i have all the stuff to do it, i've just been lazy about actually mounting the junk.
You could also use a newer cell phone charger for that. A lot of them are coming with USB cables and a wall wart that has a USB port in it.
Doing it wirelessly, a few AA batteries would last quite a while running a few LEDs.

hurm. batteries suck but it'd be nice to not have to do the USB hub/phone charger thing.
how many hours would one get out of batteries i wonder?

Wait, USB...huh. Most USB chargers are pretty low profile...

yessuh! the one i have you could mount at the end of the PT (above where the power cord goes in) super easy. or even underneath and bend the lights over.

assuming 2500mAh on the AA batteries, it would last 125 hours for one LED running at 20mA (which is what normal LEDs generally run at at their brightest). So divide 90 hours by however many LEDs you have. You'd need 3 AA batteries in series to run a common white LED. If you used 6 you could get more time.
But, since the pedals are presumably powered, you probably have access to power.
I like the booklight and ropelight ideas, personally! Assuming the ropelights can be cut.

After some looking I think I might get this:
http://www.amazon.com/Portable-Flexible-Light-Laptops-Notebooks/dp/B002WI8GG8/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1323402565&sr=8-11and power it with this:
http://www.amazon.com/Portable-Battery-Powered-Emergency-Flashlight/dp/B003M9Z5F6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1323402675&sr=8-3total cost, assuming you have super saver whatnot, is about $7. This way you wouldn't even have to have another power supply hanging off your pedalboard and you could just velcro the usb power deally to the bottom of your pedalboard. Personally I'd might get this instead to power it because it's rechargeable:

+1 for the USB Lamp.
And if you're into DIY I would suggest building a little power supply by yourself instead of using batteries... gotta protect nature 'n stuff yaknow...
I'm assuming you're not powering your pedals with batteries- If you do so.... ok... my idea won't work....
But if you're powering your pedals with PSU's.. I suggest building a little voltage converter with a 7805 voltage regulator. It would easily be as small as the "emergency charger" and you wouldn't have to use batteries. 9VDC in- 7805- 5VDC out. Two capacitors to suppress noise.. and bääääm- you're good to go.

How about strobe lights synched to the oscillator of a hard-chop tremolo pedal?

durp. i wanted to see that so i had to register at TGP. the You're Not A Bot Are You question was "how many strings are on a bass?".
i answered 6 like three times before i noticed "NORMALLY on a bass", sighed, died a little inside, and wrote 4.
damnit.

I'm actually surprised the bot question isn't "Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Personal Lord and Savior" over there (with 'YES!' being the only acceptable answer)

I'm guessing not a lot of praise & worship bands are the sort that do Black Sabbath covers.
