Ekkks! I've edited the list to add some more of yer suggestions, I've also provided a few random weblinks so everyone can check out the players they don't know, but it does take time and I can't be arsed to do anymore than a few a day, so if you've got more links, post them here, and I'll copy and paste to the original post to make THE MUTHA OF ALL LISTS!!! (yes, I love lists! except shopping lists!)

Brock and Bainbridge play for Hawkwind.
I just heard hawkwind's "Space ritual" for the first time about a month ago, and I pretty much shat my pants.
Hehe. We used to feed nightly on Hawkwind, Gong, Hendrix, King Crimson. I am sure amongst some of the newcomers to our social circle there was a lot of shatting going on.
If you haven't heard it, check out Gong - You. Gong, if you do not know them, freely cite Hawkwind as one of their influences, Pink Floyd (pre-DSotM) as another.

I'd like to add:
Wayne Krantz
Oz Noy
Andy Gill - Gang of Four
Keith Levene - Pil
David Torn
Richard Lloyd
Tom Verlaine
Robert Quine
Maybe some are already on.

Animals is my second favorite album. Def a huge influence.

What,no Kevin Shields?
I think that Campbell from Hovercraft is pretty rad...
Also the Gibbons brothers did something important for guitar based noise.
Trying to remember more...

Yeah, lolwut? I think Kevin should replace Bilinda in that list.
Also Ian Williams of Don Caballero/Battles. He pretty much invented the math-rock dual-hand tapping, and well, Battles is just crazy.

haha, i read that list and wondered where kevin was, esp. considering bilinda never really played a note on any mbv record.
