Zen Arcade is the best rock opera behind/can't choose between/tied with The Wall.
Tommy can suck my balls, and Uncle Ernie and Cousin Kevin can too. (although Pinball Wizard is one of the greatest songs ever written.)

Back on Topic, Sounds layered to me. Probably JCM900 disortion with Muff tracked under it.
also I'm liking this Jets to Brazil thing you got here. Probably more than I like Zen Arcade. though Pink Turns to Blue and Chartered Trips are two of the best songs evarz.

Yeah, my friend Ryan said that Blake uses a Muff in his current band, and probably had one then. And JTB is great! Definitely recommended to get this album, and also Four Cornered Night, which is more of an elaborate production, but an absolutely amazing album.

Also can use jhs angry charlie if do not have a RAT.
