like i said, symbols can only hold a meaning if you give them one. flags are after all just cloth (nylon in my rebel flags case) that has been bleached & dyed.

at least we all agree that v4's, 15" speakers & carr's kick ass

I'm from Texas and have lived here my whole life. "Southern pride" still makes no sense to me.

Symbols are powerful, and to say they have no meaning unless you give them one is disingenuous.
When southern African-Americans start waving rebel flags, you get a pass.
Until then, you're a thoughtless, callous person, at best.

Sorry, rattler420, didn't mean to derail your thread. Apologies. Just call 'em like I see 'em.

+ one million.

I'm not offended by a rebel flag, but I sure think flying one is dumb.
but, you know, whatever...Freebird and all that.

however, I don't give a shit what the swastika was used for before Hitler.
it's a symbol of fucking genocide and if you fly it you're an asshole.
maybe in another few thousand years that will change, but not today and not tomorrow.

Well...anyway, it's a sweet head+cab combo. I was wondering about how that cab would turn out because I have a homemade 2x10 with Randall speakers that I know nothing about...and it sounds pretty decent. Maybe if it was a properly-designed cab rather than a huge box with two speakers mounted in it, it'd sound a bit better, but eh :idk:
Been GASing for 15s lately.

At least you've got one thing right-- the most concentrated population of Confederate flags I've ever seen was in upstate New York.

Now, I'm no cartographer, but I thought I knew where the Mason-Dixon line was...

Anyway, glad to see you snagged that setup dude, especially happy to hear the cab is working out for you.

But I gotta point out that speaker size doesn't really influence the tone of a cab nearly as much as the dimensions, porting, and other elements of design. I've played a bunch of relatively honky 2x15"s and a whole lot of DEEEEEP 10" setups (the Ampeg Fridge springs to mind first)

Agreed! The ampeg bass fridge ain't nothin to fuck with, i've played infront of 4 sunn 1x18's before and while it was low and heavy it wasnt as tight and earth shaking as playing in front of 2 fridges, plus their midrange is wicked. But i love 15's for guitar, i've got my emperor 3x15, and 2 sunn 1x15 converted pa cabs (each with different eminence 15's in them). They don't have the midrange presence of 12's but they seem more balanced overall as far as tone goes and they record wonderfully.

Totally. I'm a total 15" whore.

So much so that my guitarist plays through my backup: Sovtek MIG100 into ye olde Peavey Black Widow 2x15. Sounds tits.

The best part is that since my Orange 1x15 (which is a TL606 at heart) is tuned similarly, when we're hitting and holding the same note with the distortion raging the notes throb in and out of each other. Sounds like something breathing.

grammar edit ftw.

Nuff said. Older Peavey = Underrated. When i bought my first 4x12 i tried out a bunch of cabs with a head that i really liked (ampeg vl-1002, wicked high gain amp) i tried out an old marshall with greenbacks, oversized mesa, fender, randall, and a few others. Then i pulled out this beat up 150$ peavey sheffield equipped 4x12 slant front and it blew every other cab away i tried, it blew my mind. The sheffield / black widow era peavey stuff is awesome and cheap.

the randall cab is 40x32x16 (inches). made from what looks like regular osb plywood. & the port on this thing is huge. it moves quite a bit of air. closed back of course. ive only been playing guitar for like 5 years, & all the experience i have with is basically pictured on the front page lol. so i dont know how it sounds compared to other cabs, but like i said, it works plenty good for my needs. atm anyway lol.

& on symbols, our beloved devil horn fists. too some its a sign of worshiping satan, i think dio said his grandmother used it to ward off evil spirits, but to most it just means "fuck yeah!! rock on mother fucker!!" still i say, symbols only mean as much, or are important as you let them be. & if you disagree, well it takes all kinds to make the world go round.
