Mine has the same issues. Loud buzz when the pedal is not engaged, when I turn it out, a lower in volume, hissier sound comes on. No guitar signal goes, through. Anyone have any pictures of one that's properly done so I can compare where I may have gone wrong?

do you have a picture of your build? ^ maybe one of us can see a problem.

Have you put it in its enclosure yet?

Not yet, I guess I should take some! Put it in it's enclosure, no difference. Does it matter which way the IC chip is put in? I couldn't figure it out, maybe I have it backwards. Also, on the diagram, it's hard for me to differentiate which wires connect to the positive and negative sleeves on the input jack. Sorry, am a total novice at building.

ic orientation DO matters. And the sleeves on either jack is always the ground. On the diagram, the sleeve of the input goes to the ground of the dc power jack and the sleeve of the output goes to the ground pad of the pcb. From the build on the 1st page, the little notch of the ic is on the right. I know with the TGD kind of effect its hard to tell if it sounds "right" but i guess you'll know (backward ic sounds a little less crazy).

Aside from instructing people to populate the enclosure before they solder it up to fix the output grounding issue, is there anything else we need to add to the layout/how to sheet?

Just to clear things up so people dont have to search the internet for a couple things:
-How to wire up the input and output jacks (tip and sleeve)
-Which leg of the LED goes to the board and which to the bypass switch
Although this is pretty simple stuff - alot of people dont know it and it'd make the build a bit more solid to have this information attached.
Other than that - the DIY Kit is great and the wiring diagram is very nice and easy to read - i applaud whoever put it together.
I'm already putting money back in anticipation of the next kit.

Great. I was wondering weather or not I should pull the trigger on this one. Had a little apprehension on whether or not I was actually able to put it together. But this thread pretty much answered all my questions!

TGD arrived today. Very nice, minimalistic kit: no holes in enclosure, no wires, no LED holder, no knobs, PCB holder don't fit in PCB, no 5k Tone pot... But thanks gods - otherwise it made it from US to Europe. It sounds great. Every pot control is very sensitive - so lot of different noises.

Ural - yours was one of the first two to be mailed out and those were not drilled. All the kits are now drilled. We don't use a bezel for the LED's, so they are not included. The PCB stand-off needs to be filed down a bit to fit into the PCB holes. There was a list of what the kit included on the website. Maybe we should clearly state that the wire and knobs are not included?
On the tone pot, that was just a mistake.

Sorry about that. If you send me an email or PM, I would be happy to work something out with you.

Never mind, I'm happy with kit. Sounds awesome - like drum machine.

So anyone got these working yet? I just got my board populated. I've been out of town for two weeks and couldn't work on it. Hope I did everything right. First time populating a board.
Front of the board

Back of the board

Went to Radio Shack yesterday and bought a better soldering iron, some solder, a desolding gun (cause I fucked up), and some snippers. Totally forgot to buy wires though.

So I have to wait until my next day off to work on this again. Weak.
