Re: What did I do wrong?
I've only tried it with my tele. My SG is out of comish right now haha
I know it's really weird. It sounds normal unless I do the whole volume thing. Then it sounds completely broken. It's actually pretty sweet. But I kinda want it to work normally.

Re: What did I do wrong?
I just completely rewired this pedal with a different wiring style and it's still making the tremolo sound. Did I fry one of the components or something? I really don't think I did but it's definately possible.
I can email a clip of the tremolo sound if it would help solve the problem.

What wiring style did you use this time?

Re: What did I do wrong?
I copied the wiring diagram for the mudbunny pcb from madbean but changed it a bit for no battery and the LED lug + CLR on the board. The wiring looks a lot neater. I'm not sure if there's a difference but I'll probably wire 3PDTs this way now.

Just for fun, take a look at GGG's 3pdt wiring. I've stuck by this for foreeeeeeveeeeeer!

Yeah, The GGG wiring diagram is a great reference tool if building pedals. The one on the Beavis Audio site is good too and both sites have lots of great info if you are wanting to build those little noise boxes.

Re: What did I do wrong?
Thanks I'll use the GGG wiring diagram next time.
So if I connect the output jack's tip to it's sleeve the weird tremolo sound seems to go away. Would it affect anything else if I connected the two with a wire?

Re: What did I do wrong?
if you connect the out jack's tip to it's sleeve you will short the signal to ground and get overwhelming silence.

Re: What did I do wrong?
Yeah I just tried that and figured that out myself haha
but it solves the problem when I connect them with my finger. This is driving me crazy I can't figure out what's wrong.

Re: What did I do wrong?
Do you still have the middle lug of your dc jack going to ground?

hmmm sounds like some sort of grounding issue to me...

Re: What did I do wrong?
It sounds like the circuits just gets unstable with the transistor biased right to ground. Which isn't normal for SHO, last I checked (the And Aardvarks! is a lot like an SHO and it's always biased straight to ground).
Hmm... double check that the biasing resistors are connected properly and that the protection diodes are facing the right direction.
Also, if you're using the enclosure to carry ground, make sure the jacks are on really tight.
Maybe add a filter cap? I've never noticed them helping anything, but maybe!

Re: What did I do wrong?
here is an example of how useless protection diodes are. everyone has 9v tip negative power supply. this is not the wild wild west of DIY like in the craig anderton book. but if you install that diode backwards you have protection from turning on lol.

Re: What did I do wrong?
I was talking about the two diodes protecting the MOSFET, actually. If they were backwards, it would affect the bias, since the 4V(ish) bias voltage would go through the diode, making it more like a .6V bias voltage... and I think the power would be able to get right to the gate of the MOSFET...
... on second thought, I don't think the pedal would work if that was the case.
