Why doesn't anybody make guitars with wide fretboards better suited to my manly hands?*

*this is probably more experience-related than it is physical limitation. I'm just too fucking lazy to really practice guitar. Or bass. But I can spread the entire pad of my fingers across the bass strings and not mess things up...

...maybe this is secretly the reason I like bass more...

Clearly I'm alone in feeling this, though

^This, but for amps.

Volume+Treble+Bass= All I need

dubkitty wrote:and why doesn't any major manufacturer make a decent, affordable all-tube bass head, when they've ALL got a Marshall-head guitar clone?

Because thanks to old wive's [middle-aged cover band dudes] tails tube bass amps brake all the time and all weigh over 500lbs... that is why.

I don't understand how you can actually have too much lowend and or reverb.
I also don't understand why anyone would want a signature model.
I don't get the appeal of basses where the horns look like thumbs, or those ugly single cut things, they always look like something a 5 year old drew.
I don't understand why you would want a piezo in a solid body instrument.

I don't get as cheap as they are, and the multitude of stupid noises one can get from them, why last year's model Roland guitar synths aren't being snapped up like candy by noise and wierd guitarists.

Run a $200 total GR-20 or 30 into other sonic destroyers, and you have stuff that makes EHX's R&D department on a bad acid day look like Polyanna.

Your posts have really sparked an interest in me. I might have to check this out.
I've been interested in old rackmount reverbs and stuff for a while now, too...

Nice thing on all of it is that it's plug and play once you've got a good set of patches (and can always deviate from them)- I get woken up with something in my head, I can be recording within a minute of sitting down. That's a big deal since I'm in poor health and some days the basswood Mustang weighs too much. That and I haven't had so many 'cycle through presets at random, sounds cool, instant song' since getting my first Echoplex back in the stone age since breaking down with the synth. Just remember to turn it off occasionally. ;0

And you cannot overlook the fun of <$50 multifx units - hell, I've paid that for one sound from an el-cheapo pedal I used twic

They're a little too similar to grandpas guitars!

Hey now, I play a semi-hollow damn it!

True, Gramps is always eyeballing that one, ignores everything else I own.

I just wish they tracked better with the bass pickup, still, if they are that cheap I might look into one again... Hey, can you set them so they will mix all 6 midi channels into one monotone channel?

I don't get what my presence knob on my amp does.

I've forgotten(but am pretty sure I did know) what my flanger's "Manual" knob does.

Why my cables always get fucked.
