My favorite Isis song! It takes EVERYTHING they do well and pack it into one epic tune.
Panopticon and Wavering Radiant are where it's at for me with these guys

I'll reserve judgement until I see Neurosis.
I've seen both and I still prefer Isis

Isis put me to sleep live. Much prefer them on CD.

They definitely did that to me on the Wavering Radiant tour.
The farewell was amazing, though.

Yes it was.
I saw their 10 Year Anniversary run also (2007? Seattle) and a one-off show at the Metro (Chicago) and they killed it both times. True, the Wavering Radiant tour wasn't the most exciting but I love that album.

I bought Through Silver In Blood back when it came out, but it was so not the right album for me to listen to at the time. I didn't really get into Neurosis until The Eye of Every Storm, and that album still floors me to this day. Saw Steve Von Till and his array of pedals do the Harvestman thing opening for Shrinebuilder in January of last year, but still haven't seen Neurosis proper, even though I live in the Bay Area.
Did manage to see Isis twice, and while I dig both bands, I really hate the "Neurisis" comparison - I really like both bands for entirely different reasons, and while I understand why people find them similar, I don't myself.

Agreed. ISIS, whilst they lost my interest whenever they weren't doing something from 'Oceanic', were a decent band influenced by Neurosis, and I suppose the comparison comes from the fact that both bands had dynamics, and a penchant for penning some monstrous riffs (see 'Oceanic'/
anything Neurosis have done. Seriously, When it comes to the
boom, the men are Sean Connery).
I love all the different stages of Neurosis. 'Eye...' is an unbelievable record. Tonally unlike anything I've ever heard. Tuneally sublime. 'A Sun That Never Sets' is possibly my favourite. 'Through Silver' is brutal.

Neurosis are awesome. My best friend got Pain of Mind on cassette at Wall To Wall Sound when it first came out and we were both floored by it.
Then I got to see them at an old movie theater in NJ when they were supporting The Word as Law LP and they were incredible live.
Souls at Zero was the last album that I really have heard by them cause for a while I was caught up in a bunch of the shit life throws at you.
I have checked out a little bit of the newer stuff and I really do want to get some real copies cause it is some whack stuff.
Anybody know if they still play out?

People always say we sound like Isis, Neurosis, Sunn, or Boris. Havent really heard Neurosis, but if they sound like The Ronald Raygun they must be good!

I have a pretty complete Neurosis Discog on my hard drive that I've never listened to.
From what you guys are saying I probably should though. Not really a big Isis fan and haven't heard any of the other influenced bands mentioned,...but Pelican is one of my favorite bands.

Neurosis took me 8 years to get into. It was very much worth the effort.
