Things pop into my head and I write them down.
Writing them usually brings a tune, rhythm to mind.
And on a good day I write more stuff that goes with it.

If you want songs that sound good, stripped down and simple usually works.

If your goal is to write like Meat Loaf, Dylan or early Springsteen, you need a whole story complete with moral to work around.
