And if I see one more piece on them that mentions that one of them used to be a model and they partied with famous people in LA before they had a band - IM GONNA PUKE.
ETA: Perhaps what bothers me the most is that they are just OK, and the media response to them is so focused on them as women and not musicians. They accentuate the fact that one used to be a model and make them come across as kinda ditzy. We get it. They're hot and they play in a band.
theres also the whole "OMG THEY SOUND LIKE ARTSY NEW YORK GAIZ, BUT THEY'RE FROM LA. ARE U GONNA CHANGE THE LA SOUND"
the fuck is up with that?
bunch of my friends like 'em and they're overrated.
granted my one friend basically creams his pants over anything sparse blusey and reverby. like if you describe anything like that, he'll go into it expecting to obsess over it.

Wait, what's wrong with ogling women?
Yes, on the one hand, you could totally construe it as sexist, exploitative, and degrading. Especially when you consider the fact that this band apparently doesn't do anything special.*
On the other hand, it is a compliment. A terrifyingly simplistic, grossly base compliment, sure--and I'm pretty sure in our communal heart of hearts we all wish we could transcend our corporeal bodies and measure things on pure artistic merit--but this has got to be better than a thread about "Look at these hag-like cave witches who play in a band! I watched a video of theirs and I singed my retina."
*I still haven't listened to any of their music, btw.

I get that they are attractive. The issue is that when I am playing music, I don't want guys looking at my tits. i want them to judge my musical ability, not whether my butt looks good.
Guys don't get it, because they would be thrilled to have chicks looking at them when they play. But it is totally different for women because it never fucking stops. My sister is a good example. She gets hit on EVERYWHERE. In the grocery store, the market, at work, in the park with her kids.
There are times I just don't want my looks to enter into the equation.

I empathize. Women gaze at me constantly. I'm on thirteen different watch lists. Right up until I shaved my beard a couple weeks ago, I would not have been allowed to board a plane, train, or public automobile.
And my butt looks fucking awesome.

I really like the band, and I'm sick of everything about them focusing on how they're women/hot women, rather than the music (the important bit). They were really great when I saw them live, sort of hypnotic jamming stuff which I really like, the world just needs to get over the fact that sometimes women do stuff that isn't standing around looking good/having kids.

I understand this but they were asking for it when they made a video full of bouncing boobs. OK music but a bad choice when they made that vid.
How can you be a straight man and not stare at that?

Fact: unless women tape down their tits, they are going to bounce a bit.
I don't care if you find them attractive, I am just tired of hearing about boobs in relation to this band. Talk about their music. Take them seriously as musicians, not just as sexy women on your computer screen.

I do but have you seen that video? I understand boobs bounce but that video was a advertisement for their tits so its hard to take them seriously.
Like I said I do dig the music I can just do without the selling me on sex shit.

The whole premise of this thread is incorrect. Why should there be one band a whole board should like?
There are bands so good you don’t notice their looks, and bands so smoking hot you watch them in spite of their music.
This is neither.
Just another “processed cheese” group.
