it seems like an excessive amount of money for what's essentially an iPad dock with foot controllers built in. my interest would depend on how good the software was, though...i'm not opposed to modeling on principle any more than i'm opposed to drum machines, but it has to be good enough to be worth using. my standards here may be different; i used the PodXT with the Shortboard as an effects unit at jams a couple of times and it worked fine. and if you already had an iPad, which i assume is the market they're aiming at, the price when discounted from MSRP becomes more reasonable. i don't need it because i have the Pod and am frankly up to my tits in pedals already, but i wouldn't discount it without even seeing it.

Well, I seriously doubt that they expect people to buy an iPad just to run this thing.

This... just as much as I wouldn't expect someone to buy an iPhone so they can run iRig.

I don't know. I think it's kind of a cool idea. I'm sure this thing isn't going to give you epic, ground breaking tones, but I support the forward thinking and innovation. There's always going to be those die-hard analog natzees, but the majority of us don't really complain about plugins emulating analog synths, so I don't see the big deal. Most of us wouldn't really go bananas about the 1st gen digital reverbs, and delays from the 80's, but I'm glad someone went there..... otherwise we wouldn't have great snax like the RRR, Empress, Strymon, blah, blah, and blah.

It would be cool to be able to do fly dates, and only have to worry about bringing your guitar. You'll already have your iPad with your if you're traveling, and you just pack the "dock" in your suitcase. That being said, I'm with DarkAxel, I'd rather have the pedalboard that weighs as much as my amp. :p

It does make me excited to see what is in the future. Could you imagine if you could hack that pedalboard dock to use it with other apps? Perhaps have a VST processor on the iPad to run your rig through. I'd love to have Audio Damage plugs, for example, without having to lug around a lap top.

Well yeah, but couldn't you just get a Line 6 POD or one of anyone's multifx pedals for a fraction, and I mean proper fraction like 1/6 of the cost and do the same thing? You could get the Vox Tonelab, and that has amp modeling plus effects PLUS t00000000bz t0000nz
So this turned into another devi thread...
