Haha, the perfect description of what I'm hearing as well. Just do this instead of buying pedal!

Also, I believe Red Fang be rockin' Sunn Beta Leads, solid states in their full glory for all the haters. I generally hate on solid state guitar stuff myself but I've never captured sounds like that coming out of one. My mind would change very quickly if that were the case.

In the early 90's, everyone was rockin' Sunn Beta Leads. Pretty sure the first times I saw Melvins and Nirvana they were both using them... That was consistantly Buzzo's touring guitar amp, and everyone was envious of his massive guitar sound. Good SS amps are good amps, just like a good tube amp is a good amp. And they work forever, I've got half a dozen friends that are using Betas and Concerts to play and tour with now. There were also a ton of bands that used Crate GX130C's, Ampeg VH140C's, and Marshall Valvestates.

As for the guitar sound, I could get that out of the Sepukku Octave Drone, so I'd bet there's more than a few DE pedals that could get that sound. And prob plenty of fuzz pedals with just some volume rolled back on the guitar or drained battery - voltage starved mojo.

I bet you could pull that with a Devi Torn's Peaker. Sweet tone for sure. Anybody know what kinda guitar homeboy on the right is playing??? Love the looks of that thing. Is it some kinda mutant Fender with one horn shaved off???

You didn't even read the thread, did you?

I listened to the part he mentioned and I had a Wolf Computer once and it made those exact sounds. I did read the thread, but I wasn't saying what fuzz it was, I was merely recommending a pedal that can replicate those sounds.

So if you'd please, stop accusing me of ignorance and maybe read my post again to see I was recommending a pedal not declaring what fuzz was used in the song.

There was a thread awhile back, consensus was Mustang with some "modifications" to the body.

The Melvins blew my fucking head off at a tiny club show in the early 90's with a Beta Lead, first time I'd seen/heard one, that I knew of.

My first amp was a shitty, shitty Crate SS combo, impacted me at a young age. I learned my lesson at that Melvins show. Still don't own a SS amp though, one day...

I dont know what fuzz it is either, but I know wolf computers can get dang close to that sound as well as many others including torns peaker tones. So, yeah. Get a wolf computer. I have five and need every single one of them, maybe even more...

Then apparently I need like 90 Mustangs. That thing is sexual healing.

Dig that video and the tunes... sounds like Melvins + QOTSA or something.

And I'm +1 with PP for a Wolf Computer or an AB-Synth 5k FOR TRUTH. Sounds like that to me, but I bet a WC would get it pretty straight up, as it's a little more "motor-boaty" than the AB-Synth.

You can find good SS amps for the price of some pedals or less, so why not own one? Esp if you tour.

I know three grind bands touring together right now - they're using a pair of ss Peavey Century's for the three bands amps. They sounded great fronted with the pedals each band used for guitar and bass into good cabs. They were $40 each and won't be in the shop before the end of the tour like an Ampeg V4 would be freakin' guaranteed to be. And the V4 didn't make them sound any better on the previous tour. I mostly use my SS amps for grindcore, but that's cuz I haven't gotten an old Sunn or Acoustic to use with FUZZZZZ for sludge and rawk. Yet.

It's like the overdrive fever tho, watch out! I've got three ss heads 'cuz they were so cheap', and a Traynor ss combo rehoused as a head too...

I love "motor-boaty" as a fuzz descriptor. Totally works.

Yeah wolf computer does seem like it should be able to cop that tone, though I doubt that's the fuzz of origin.

I'm gonna leave this here: (for those of you not familiar with the beast that is ...RED FANG)

on the beta lead tip...I have one. All kinds of dorks in metalcore bands absolutely lose their mind when they realise I'm playing through a solid state amp (in a dorky metalcore band). There's like, shitty solid state, then there's Sunn, Acoustic, some old Yamaha amps, etc.

No idea on the fuzz in that part of the song. I'm pretty sure the dudes regular tone is just straight in to the betas, did see a shot of a little big muff on their facebook or something. And yeah it's definitely a sanded down mustang.

This. So much this. I know it's prob not the fuzz red fang used, but the wolf will make those sounds, easily.
