How so?
the Pink Fairies album that is supposedly drenched in it sounds just like how a really good Superfuzz should sound and the one person with one of these pedals doesn't want to take it apart or even confirm to me whether or not it is the pedal on the album (which to me screams "protecting mah investment!!!!!")
we'll see - it's been my personal holy grail for ages so if i ever get my hands on one i will reveal the secrets

BlindtoFaith wrote:To me it has no relation in sound or design!
it's tough to imagine how the pedal sounds from Brian Eno fuzz songs (if that's what you're referring to)
that guy was and probably still is crazy with post-production editing and shizz
I love the Pink Fairies!

John Lyons wrote:The Fuzzstainer is completely different than the Superfuzz. Other than they both use transistors, there is nothing
shared between the two schematically. It's also quite variable so it can sound quite different depnding on how it's set, unlike
the super fuzz (baring tone switch settings)
i'm talking about the mythical WEM Project V here

Seems like everytime I go on a jag looking for some underground classic that no one can quite replicate, you come along and hook it up with a build guru so it can be released into the wild. You don't happen to have a WEM Project V stashed away perchance that you'd maybe like to send to say John or Jim or Brad or some other enterprising soul so we can all get our Sky Saw on? Do ya, huh? Pleeez? I'll come running to tie your shoe....

thanks man!
spread the love. I say.
unfortunately I have yet to track down a Project V, and the only ones I know to exist are owned by Graham, a D*A*M forum member.
but trust me, there are some other cool fuzz clones in the pipe line.

so I just got another crazy rare pedal (in that I have never even heard of this brand until now).
It's called the "EQ Exciter" and was made by a company called SRS, from what I can tell around 1975.
It's actually neither an EQ or and Exciter, but a
Hard Clipping, Heavy Fuzz!sort of in the Fuzz Face vein, but way heavier.
Also, it has a Tone control that is like a Low Pass filter you would find on a synthesizer.
I am loving this thing so far and it really needs to be cloned/

Just putting the shine on this Sunn Buzz copy/tweak for you.

sweet!
I will send this to you. you'll love it/
Its actually similar to the Savage Henry, but with a super cool tone control, and it just sounds better to be completely honest.
If you back off the guitar's volume you get a really nice crunchy overdrive to a fat fuzz that sounds really great on chords.
The "Gain" knob is actually a volume control, so a real Gain control would be nice on this one.
and maybe if the EQ control could be used on its own without fuzz too? that would be awesome.
oh yeah, I also forgot to mention that it has a cool upper octave thing going on.
on the Sunn Buzz, John has my 2 originals... so I foresee something really cool coming from that!

Wow, sounds er...exciting (

)Ed.
Can't wait to see what's under the hood.
I have the Sunn Buzz all worked out. Board
made etc. Should be able to cobble one up and get it to you
real soon. I'm digging the bass control that fattens it up
from the original tone to a more low mid chunky sound.
Warp Sound on the map soon too.
