Dude I watched this whole set and HOLY SHITFUCK I'm rocked. I saw them in Philly and NYC with Isis around 2002 with Rutmanis on bass. Those were great sets but the two drummer setup is blistering. Dale Crover is where drums go to die.

Melvins stayed at my house a couple times when Tom Flynn from Boner Records was touring with them playing bass - @ the time of Bullhead. Tom did our dishes every time they stayed! Haven't seen them play live in years, but I'm still pals with their old roadie Smelly. One of the best shows I've ever seen was Melvins and Zeni Geva in both of the bands primes.
I've lost track of them over time tho, need to look into the dual drummer stuff. Had no idea they moved to NY either. haha.

Also, the idea that the Biz can't keep up as part of a rhythm section is pure silliness.

Their Dale & Buzz only cover of Ballad of Dwight Fry was far and away the highlight of my live Melvins experience.

I love the current lineup, it breathed some fresh air into the group. Still, the lineup of Buzzo, Mark D, and Dale is the ultimate lineup in my mine.

it's not that they can't keep up as a rhythm section, they can very well actually. i've seen them everytime they come to oregon since 2001. its just that personally (in my opinion, not in anyway wanting to start any controversy or weird shit) i don't like the turn that the melvins' music has taken since they joined. for me it feels like they lost thier edge. i like the melvins doin weirder shit like the albums on Amphetamine Reptile or the era with former Cows bass player Kevin Rutmanis when they started releasing on Ipecac . the early melvins records are super influential and the albums with Jello Biafra were pretty damn cool too. i like my melvins as a 3 piece as well, just an opinion.

That makes perfect sense, actually.
