Aussy was just showing me demo's for the DAM 1966, and that's like really really close to what i'm looking for. Maybe treblier, and like a little more gated. But yeah that's pretty close. Is that just like a straight clone of a vox?

is it a vox? is it at your house? if so i'm gonna play it later.

hmm i've been watching demos of a fuzz-stang, that looks neat too.

The Vox Tonebenders tend to be pretty thin and bright. Basically all cut and no beef so if you need some low end then the Vox might not work out well for you.

The 1966 has the added super bee mode via the side switch.
It just changes to bigger input/output caps, but sounds pretty cool...a lot of builders will add it if you ask nicely.]

The fuzzstang is pretty rad...it's a take on the sam ash fuzzstainer which is supposed to be mk1/fz-1 -ish.
I heard the stang is gooped though, which is pretty lame if true.

I know one or two original fuzzstainers have been floating about lately, hopefully one will make it into the hands of a non-goopy builder.

that's what i am looking for. I dislike the low end on the tonebenders, it bottoms out too easily. awesome.

The sound of your fuzz box will highly depend on your guitar and amp.

Vox Tonebender is trebly but it is not recommended to use it with hight output guitar (forget these vintage P90s...).

If you play through a "dark sounding amp" (like a crunchy Vox), you'll disappear in the mix using a Tonebender MKI or MKII. The MKIII/MKIV with the tone knob will let you reach these trebly/agressive fuzz sounds (In a gadda da vida riff for example, even if this one was played through a germanium Fuzzrite).

Hope that'll help !

In other news,

I think the buzzaround is making a Beeline to my heart. Seriously, i've been playing the Skin Pimp one for two days now, and it does it all.. really well. <3

So who makes buzzarounds/ modded ones

so far i know of the skin pimp and the creepy fingers.

Ghost Effects makes a snazzy looking one, as well as montgomery appliances ;)

Can't go wrong with any of those 4 :!!!:

The timbre control has a small cap on one side so if you turn it all the way down (usually) you have that brighter tone you were looking for in the Vox. Then if you want more bass you can crank that timbre control. That circuit is quite a bit tighter and clearer than a MKII as well so you've got that going for you to keep the bass together.

Is the Sound Shank a worthwhile Buzzaround approximation? Seems to be more affordable than most of the other Buzzaround type pedals out there.
