well, now that i have a tuner i can tune the harmonic to pitch and then tweak the bridge so the fretted note is verifiably within 0.5 cents much more quickly than when i had to do it by ear. but it's still the same procedure.

Intonation can also mean how players articulate individual notes while playing for the purpose staying in tune with each other. That me be why some people were confused, including me, if this was a tuning question or a setup question

It might be just voodoo, but I find I can never get it with the open string + 12th fret harmonic thing -- I stick a capo on the 1st fret and do 13th fret harmonic. Seems to work better for me anyway.
