just say no to that epiphone pickgaurd. looks like they tried to save $0.02 on a little bit of plastic. it is an easy fix though if you want to keep the epi. as for the gibby sg. the p90 didn't move the last time they were in the store. went on sale for $750 or $780. something around there. this was 2009 prices. just wait till nov-dec when they are desperate to get rid of the old stock by the end of the corporate fiscal year.

The only reason I started looking at sg's was because of this:

If its good enough for Jeff Mangum its good enough for me. And I like the p90s and faded finish.

if your gonna use that much fuzz and distortion all the time than it probably doesn't matter what guitar your using. you'll still get that sound more or less. then it just comes down to neck feel and weight.

Awwww, thanks for remembering me. Yep, here's the real if you can stand the gayness:

This is my favourite guitar ever of all time. Maybe I'm just used to P-90s, but everything sounds wonderful through this guitar. I got it for a little less than $800, I think, right before they were discontinued. The finish sucks, but that's the point. It wears off pretty easily, but I don't really care. I bought it because I needed a guitar that I could knock around and play without being SO AFRAAAAIIIIDDD of messing it up, because I'm anal sex, but then it just became my main guitar. I've had to have mine tuned up a few times, but that's no big deal. I would say that the guitar isn't without some minor flaws (which is what makes it a bottom of the line Gibson), but never again can I play a guitar and not wish it was my Special.
The look (although way cool) and whatever, uh, action of the guitar isn't what makes me blow my ballsload... it's the P-90s. Every fuzz I play though these gets like an immediate sonic upgrade. I bought a newer AmStd Tele recently that sucked a lot of the life out of my fuzzes (to my ears)... and again, perhaps I'm just way used to P-90s (I've played my Casino and this Les Paul since 2000), but they produce the guitar sound I want to hear when I play a guitar.
I've thought about refinishing it in white with a white pickguard, as that would be my ideal look, but eh. I'm proud of myself for truly loving the guitar because of how it SOUNDS.
I also think the Jonas Bros. signature looks like a pretty fucking sweet guitar. If it was a double-cutaway, I'd pick it up.

I highly recommend the Faded Specials... I haven't played the SG, but besides the shape, there isn't really a whole lot of difference between the two. I have the double-cutaway, so the SG is like a sharper version of what i have. Probably a thinner body. See if you can try one out somewhere that has a finish that you're happy with. Mine has a "fade" in a spot where one would never naturally occur, but I got used to it... don't know if you'll feel the same.
Do it.

cba713, i miss the mega man bosses...

one of my friends has the natural finish one and its pretty nice. the neck is a touch slimmer and the guitar is lighter than his sg special that he got in 94 but thats when the sg specials were actually special!

anyway, the 60s tributes i can say are pretty decent and that padded gig bag they are giving away with them is pretty plush for a gig bag.

Also, mustangs and jazzmasters too.

If anything, I would like to get a mustang. Single coils are nice. And I like the smaller body. how thick are their necks?
and are mustangs offsets?

Mustangs are offset and the necks are a little thinner than strats.

There's always Duo-Sonics.
