I have an Orange with a loop designed "specifically for analog delay". It still sounds like shit, which is a shame cause the high gain channel on that amp is tops!

For me... my next setup will be (waiting for the Dr. Scientist The Elements):

In front: Octron -> Fuzzy Lady -> Stretch Wah -> Proteus -> Heliotrope -> Four Eyes Fuzz -> Hydra -> The Elements
In the loop: Cosmichorus -> SuperDealy

In my setup the loop work great... I can combine chanel A and B of my amp (A + B) so B boost A (In this setup, I need the loop).

My current amp doesn't have an fx loop, but when I had an amp with one, I tried it out with some delay and reverb, and it sounded like a mountain of douche and doo doo.

Pedalboard of thee Fuzz Overlords in front of clean amp, whooshy-swooshy multi-fx rack in the fx loop. :idk: I know, I know - now I don't sound that adventurous at all.

I'm musing on the possibility to place the BOSS RC-50 sample looper in the fx loop, too, because the pedalboard signal level is too much for it. But since its natural place WOULD be next to me with the midi controller, placing it in the amps fx loop would mean of course TWO long cables more on the stage to trip on  .

Everything in front but I only run into clean amps, never use amp drive. All the drive is pedals, from reading the comments on here I think that is where most of us are.

This thread reminds me...

why the fuck don't Orange amps have effects loops? some of them do but those are the EXPENSIVE kind...

how do you Orangers deal with that?

oh and: it depends... right now i have everything in front of the amp because i use Fix'd fuzz/DLS for my main dirt and amp is just a clean canvas (literally)

Swirly effects sound more swirly post-ampdirt.

Damn hipsters.

I put the echoplex in my attenuator's loop, because the AC30 doesn't have a loop of its own. Delay in front of a dirty amp sounds like poop.

I don't use my amp's effects loop because, like many folks have said of their amp, my loop sounds lousy. i think it totally depends on how well-implemented the loop is. i have an older Laney VC30 with an effects loop which is plug-and-play with no adjustment other than level on the control panel; newer models have a 2-position input level selector switch and work better. i also find it much simpler to deal with one set of cables running between the pedalboard and the amp rather than having an additional set going to the effects loop.
