Mudfuzz wrote:OK... so you and teef sort'a miss where I am going here so let me say this clearly NO WOOD WILL BE REMOVED, I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING! All I am talking about are the plastic parts which screw on... and which neck pickup do I want.. I just don't see the need for a real logo inless I sell the thing and I have seen picks or 64 4001s with tri inlays and the long guard. The thing with going full Lemmy is T-bird pickups that sound like real T-bird pickups cost a shit ton and if I wanted even more of a T-bird sound then my Flying V already gives me I would have bought a T-bird :idk:

Also there is a bit minor repair I need to do which is two of the inlays are cracked and it NEEDS fret work.

As for neck pickups there are actually five options: three by RIC and Bart makes one and SD makes one.

So there is no reason not to 'Mudfuzz' the thing.

OK, excuse me. i thought you were talking about giving it the full Mudfuzz like some of your project guitars you've shown us before, and was giving you the full Grandpa LOL. and when i was talking about the "full Lemmy" i didn't mean pickups, i meant carving the top and shit, totally going crazy, y'know? the only reason i'm being Grandpa about it is that i knew a guy back in the 70s who had an immaculate '56 gold top Les Paul with P90s which he stripped, refinished clear, and put Bartolini active humbuckers in

Is cool.
Actually the full "Mudfuzz" is rarely as extreme as it seems... The only ones I went batshit on are the thangs... [thang Mk1 is going to get it's oddest form soon] which were bodies I picked up for under $30 and were already fucked up.
Take the Tele>BassVI conversion: The body was modded in no way, the only actual mod to anything that was original was putting a hole in the control plate. Even the ugly blue bass, if you wanted a stock shitty squire P all you would have to do is take it apart and put the right pieces on, which would actually lead to a shittier bass
Most of the stuff I posted I built to be the way it was in the first place...

Actually the more I research... the more I want stock pickups... So is this thread silly asking about thought on a headplate? Sure! but I sort of felt silly about the idea at first  Because lets face it paying to have a logo plate with a anime logo on it is a bit otaku... :picard: And I am not one of those that likes the term and thinks it's cool, because I actually know what it means....

So I just wanted a bit of "yes you are silly but that's... ok...

Also...
This!
This!
This sound right here!
FUCK!

That RIC has stock pickups... FUCK! THAT IS THE SOUND RIGHT THERE!

oh yes! Mudfuzz it for sure! You should reverse the nut and play it upside down. Get a custom pickguard to cover the controls from pickguardian. It will look like a funky Mosrite meets Ric, yooo.

I got a reply from Pickguardian... basically "we can't do truss rod covers due to legal issues" Might have to just make my own...

Hmm I’m not a Ric fan so.
How about a mudbucker in the neck, Nordstrand soapbar bridge, make is sound completely different.

MM

Beware the "Ric police" though

Update: So I ordered the pickups and stuff, haz PG also learned that the new RIC wiring is badass and shit! Turns out the caps used is the reason that RICs aren't all thick and beefy as fuck and the new wiring haz a push/pull on the tone control which lets you switch between old-school/new-school :thumb: for the ultimate weapon or something...
