Hey, I'm guessing you own them? I saw an ad for a MidiVerb II for like $40. Good idea? Does it do reverse reverb?

I was looking at the Hardwire RV-7 and Digitech Digiverb, I really just want to do a good reverse reverb with a 100% wet option and the ability to add extra (plenty of) good sounding reverb with a footswitch. Does it do that? Info would be very appreciated!

Around me in a metro area in the Eastern U.S., that's a good price on the Midiverb. It's reportedly the reverse reverb sound on MBV's "Slow". The Yamaha reverse sound is supposed to be a bit different, though I couldn't tell you the difference from first-hand experience.

The trick with a lot of the rack stuff is interfacing it as if it was a bypass-able pedal. For the cheap Alesis Nanoverb, the bypass is atrocious and the solution for many is a using a bypass loop pedal. For full performance capabilities, it's a good idea to budget for a bypass loop and for whatever program up/down or other performance switching might be available on the back of the unit.

Thanks a lot for the quick answer! My understanding of the manual is that I'd need an "Alesis MPX midi patch transmitter", which = foot controller (?). I'll do some research, it might go before I've decided but old rack stuff seems to come up once in a while. Thanks again!

If you go pedal, my suggestions:
The EQD Ghost Echo does the "ambient sound" very well, in my opinion.
Malekko Spring Chicken is a great little one trick pony, but it does it so well.
I'd avoid the EHX Holy Grail and its offspring, personally. The EHX Cathedral sounds great, though.
The TC Hall of Fame sounds great and has tons of modes to choose from.
If you need more than the TC HoF, the Verbzilla does a lot of stuff, but it's digital and some people hate digital

I used a Behringer digital reverb and a Dano Corned Beef for years before I got an amp with spring reverb, and then I got a Ghost Echo to supplement my spring reverb and get really wet and echo-y. Love that Ghost Echo!

Cathedral always wins. Hands down.

the Yamaha is the reverse on "Slow." the MidiVerb II doesn't do reverse per se; what Kevin uses the MV II for is the "Bloom" settings, which combine a delayed attack envelope and a rather magnificent burbling modulated 5- or 8-second delay. the MV II has some very nice reverbs, though...Tommy Emmanuel takes two of them on the road with him everywhere.

when i use the rack stuff i use an A/B true bypass loop switcher with my pedalboard in the A loop and the rack in the B loop, not so much because the bypass is problematic but because the Yamahas are kind of noisy. i still need to get a MIDI foot controller for the rack gear before i use it in a live-esque setting.

i haven't recorded anything in eons. i'm hoping to get my setup together soon.
