I always got the impression it was just 2 footswitchable delay time settings.

Yeah, the BBE Two Timer only switches between two time presets, really.
Looking for something with longer delay times that can get neat sounds. The BBE demo I watched used it mostly like a reverb/echo, and I've got all my reverb, echo, and slapback needs covered.

Maybe you should start looking into analog voiced digital delays like the disaster transport

I have a kopy kat delay
made by retroman and its an analog voiced digi delay and I must say its excellent!

My Rhythm guitarist also has a Carbon Copy, it is pretty awesome, especially with the modulation button. Definitley worth it ($120 I think) I would try adn look for one used.

Maybe grab one of the newer memory boy/man pedals. That deluxe memory boy is pretty cheap with all sorts of options.

I've got a SMMH and you can tell its digital it has a filter knob but it also has a pretty noticeable volume drop.
