I just read this again. If any of you guys haven't read any Vonnegut, you're missing out.

I've read some Vonnegut, but not that one. I'll have to give it a try.

Currently finishing up A Clockwork Orange.
I'm on a total dystopian kick at the moment.

Song of the Dodo by David Quammen -- nice look at the history and present day of island biogeography.
Fascinating stuff!

Castaneda is at least partially fictionalized in the first book, and pretty much totally fiction in all the books thereafter. i'm just sayin'. anytime you read a popular series on "Native American" stuff, you can be assured that 90% of it is made-up shit. the Lynn Andrews "Medicine Woman" books are the Ur-example of this...and then there's always the utterly fabricated I, Rigoberto Menchu.

Just finished Nadja, the second time.
Now for some of my favorite, Apollinaire.

Though the Finnish translation of the Apollinaires L'enchanteur pourissant (The Rotting Sorcerer), Hospodar, and Alcools are top notch, reading Surrealist classics would make a sound reason to learn French so I didn't have to settle for translations.

I imagine it must be even more of a bitch translating that stuff into Finnish than into English, in which i find much of Breton and the vast majority of Situationist texts utterly unreadable. i totally gave up after a certain point. it was like trying to read Nietzche in Esperanto.

Just read this. Couldn't put it down.

It's about this douchebag bum finding himself. I think most of you would like it.
