Okay, so you want to pull out the two resistors and two caps that make the tone control. Are the pots PCB-mounted?

You can also do the Jumbo tonebender if you leave off the last transistor stage. Other minor changes would need to be made (jumpers and such), but it's all doable with a good Muff clone board.
Isn't that the concept of the Barber Trifecta?

Yes, but I imagine Forrest could put his own cool spin on things.

The Trifecta pulls one set of diodes out with a switch. I was talking about having both sets of diodes on switches. Not sure how great it would sound with no diodes, but I imagine it would work out okay.

It's more fuzz and less distortion when you remove the diodes. And it's brighter because the diodes clip more high end than low end.
Of course, I haven't heard it in a real muff. So maybe it sucks in a real muff since the gain is pretty limited.

I like the NYC reissues with the first set of diodes removed along with the emitter mod for more gain. I've tried to find a muff fuzz that I like better and I have failed miserably which is awesome considering you can by them used for $40. With no diodes the NYC's are REALLY LOUD (REALLY) and less fuzzy which I didn't like on guitar, it would probably sound good on bass though.
My SkullyTone Russian Spi has both sets on a switch but lifting them both does not have the same effect as it does on the NYC.
I been wanting to try the Trifecta for a while but can't find a used V2 for a decent price.

Edit: Blindtofaith you should try taking the first set of diodes out. If you don't like it you can always put them back in or put them on a switch.

So I would have to replace them with a wire correct? You said you didnt like it for guitar....where you reffering to BOTH sets of diodes being removed?

No, you don't have to replace it with anything just cut/desolder them out and that's it.
I would recommend only removing the first two (d1 and d2). With all four removed it just doesn't sound real fuzzy to me and
if I remember correctly you once told me that you like your fuzz fuzzy. Right?

I love my fuzz fuzzy!!! Hahaa. You know me all to well man. What qualities does taking out the first set bring? Thanks for the info btw

Maybe a little more volume, and a little less harshness, I think

Man, I want a socketed super-muff with twenty toggle switches to change the model.

You get more volume and a "heavier" sound. The stock NYC sounds weak in comparison.
If you don't like it it's a easy fix too.

how would I go about putting this on a switch?

Remove the diodes. Run a pair of wires from one of the diode's holes (on the PCB) to the center lugs of a DPDT switch. Put a set of diodes on one of the outer lugs of the switch. That will give you either diodes in the circuit or it will pull them out. Or you could get a DPDT center-off switch and have two sets of diodes + no diodes.
