Filmmaker Richard Matson explores the underground music scene that flourished from the late 1980s to the early '90s in Little Rock, Ark., where a tireless group of high school and junior high kids booked shows, started labels and opened record stores. Drawing from more than 190 hours of recorded interviews, 2,500 photos and tons of archival footage, Matson re-creates that exciting time and catches up with the scene's now all-grown-up pioneers.
I'll let you all know how it is.
Edit: It's watchable, and a neat story, to be sure, but nothing unexpected. As they say at the beginning of the movie, "What do you get when you have a bunch of bored white kids in a small town? punk rock."

They've got No Direction Home on Watch Instantly now, which is the biographical doc on Bob Dylan. I'll let you all know what I think of it when i'm done..
Edit: nevermind, the audio quality is terrible which makes it unwatchable. Maybe I'll just download it from the bay..

I recently watched Athens GA: Inside/Out about the phenomenal music scene that spawned REM, the B52s, Love Tractor, Pylon, and a slew of lesser known bands. Another cool music doc is Dig!, which is about the friendship/rivalry between the Brian Jonestown Massacre and the Dandy Warhols.

Saw Dig! years ago, that one is pretty good for a music doc

Dig! is totally entertaining! That scene where BJM has the label showcase and ends up in a fist fight on stage is fuckin' crazy.
