That's my point. Stalin was bad by most accounts, but he wasn't Hitler. Going by Eddie Izzard's logic, this is because Stalin only killed his own people. I know, it was a poorly conceived analogy. Maybe Napoleon to Hitler would've been better

Point was Sum 41 was dece' and I wouldn't say they are a guilty pleasure if you like them, just not quite my cup o' tea. Blink was a steaming pile.
My whole thing about skater punks was meant to be a tangent, but seriously, those kinds of douches really suck(I don't anyone who skates and listens to some kind of punk music is a douche, I mean the division of punk subculture that originated from and circles around skating).

I think The BeeGees are really good
How can you not think this song is awesome?

Just one disco song I want to do a crazy noise cover of.

Stalin killed more inhabitants of the states that made up the Soviet Union--i.e. residents of the country he ran--than Hitler killed Jews in all of Europe. Communism is only awesome to people who don't have to live under it.

^^^^this
My dad was fortunate enough to escape from a communist country in the late 60's in the fear of loosing his life.
I've heard first hand what its like to live under that sort of rule and I can assure you its not "awesome".
You can really be grateful to be living in the U.S- people risk their lives for that privilege.
Is it some kind of fad ? I'm hoping that these kids with their che t shirts are just not be well informed
and its just some faggy fashion statement.
A while back I was working with a guy (he called himself a socialist/communist) that was unemployed/ living off of the gov. while working under the table.
Once while he was trying to explain to me how doomed and backwards america is and the benefits of living in a communist run country I couldn't help but sit there in total amazement.
Here was a guy living off of the state, wearing a t-shirt with a picture of castro sucking on a huge cigar. under that it read: "revolutionaries never die". But what really got me was that while he was telling me about how capitalism is making the rich richer and blah blah .. I couldnt help notice
he was decked out in brand new nikes, levis (the best made american jeans on the plant imo) while sipping from a bottle of vanilla coke and chain smoking reds..(yeah we still have vanilla coke in germany).
I'm not hating on him - on the contrary I hope he gets his wish and finds a way to move to cuba to live out the remainder of his life in what he thinks is going to be paradise.
All I'm saying is If you say you believe in something then fucking stand behind it, more importantly know it and REALLY believe in it.
Also, peoples outward appearances as well as what they say and the actions they take constatly make or break their character.
oh yeah..pleasures:
wasp - the headless children
ozzy- randy rhodes tribute
abba- the album
heart - dreamboat annie
yep, getting old

I love the idea of communism, it just never works out in real life (and most countries we acknowledge as communist aren't really).
Don't mean to make this political though
Guilty pleasures? I don't really feel guilty about them, buuuuuut
Bee Gees
System of a Down
Rancid
Ted Nugent

I was just saying communism is awesome because he related Sum 41 to it. I like Sum 41, so in his analogy I loved Stalin and consequently communism. I was just trying to blow him off. Chill out.

I'm still loving System of a Down. Toxicity is classic. Others are okay, but that album is amazing. I felt even better when i watched an interview with Liars and they were talking about how they love that album. All guilt went down immediately.

lulz. I figured I'd be inciting more flak for insulting Blink 182 or something. My point was, some people value certain things, some value simplicity in music, others complexity. Even if it doesn't gel with anything you think is important, there's no reason to assume that any other band/ideology is outright wrong and doesn't have some value.
Also, one person's experiences living under one purported example of an ideology are not of enough value to condemn the ideology as a whole. It's silly to go from a country where your individuality is stifled then start expecting everyone to agree with you solely because of your experiences *cough cough Ayn Rand cough cough*.
