Just got a slimline wallet and military seatbelt strap in the mail (I swear one day I'll spend more than $20 on a strap... but prolly not (but I want the bird one really bad)). Both awesome.

The military seatbelt doesn't adjust as easy as the black ones... the black ones are so easy to adjust you can drop the guitar with one hand while the guitar is hanging. The military ones are easier than standard straps, though... they're just wider, I think.

My camera strap is the deadstock luggage strap, and I can tell you those things are comfy as hell.

So, yeah... couch4lyf, etc.

Even though I need a new strap, more than $30 on a strap is too mutch for me. A regular planet waves strap is $20 or less depending on teh design.

I was like this for a long time, but I tried one of the Deadstock Luggage straps and they are just so freakin' comfortable.
They are all I use now and, to me, are totally worth the cost.

Not to go all "buy 'merican" "everything in your life should abide by fair labor standards" "environmental/vegan" on this thread...

but $25-40 for a strap made in California by a buncho musicians using recycled material seems kinda worth a few extra bucks. Plus they are comfy as hell.
(and if you get an artist series, I believe the artist gets a kickback as well)

Edited for statement equivalence.

This was my concern when I received it, considered putting felt or something on the tabs too. I called and talked to the guys at Couch who said that after selling thousands of straps, they have not had any complaints about damage to a nitro finish. They did recommend removing the strap before storing the guitar in a case obviously, but as far as normal use, I think the nitro finish will be safe.

When it comes to Gibson's nitro finish, their manual states no leather or vinyl should be used. What does Gibson expect people to use, cotton weave straps? Seems the end tabs of nearly every strap are made out of leather or vinyl.

Cool, I'll end up getting one eventually then. The dark green one is calling to me...

i'm all for not skimping out on stuff *buts $6+ bone and wood picks and refuses to use anything else* but even though some of those artists straps look mighty perdy, i think i'll stick with my navajo Levy

Levy's straps are nice. I have a 4" wide leather one and it does a good job of negating neck dive. They're expensive but comfy!

The only thing I hate about it is that because it's so wide it gets in the way sometimes when the guitar is on a stand.

oh totally. and since Grace's bigsby is mounted weird, theres a bit of it hanging off the end, and the leather on the bottom gets really fucked up

Image
the bit at the end is secured by an extra long screw and a washer for support. solid as a rock, and it looks cool cuz its basically floating. but the leather bit pokes out and gets ground up a lot.
