I assume he meant trem and 'verb.

My "wait wut?" was more about channel switching and an effects loop making anything better. Heck, I'd want a lot less in that amp. Too much going on for their not to be some solid state circuitry happening. Seriously, do less but do it right if you need to hit a price point.

I've got an AC15CC1 and I like it a lot. Really nice, bright tone, but you can some great, thick, natural overdrive real easily. The reverb can be a little overwhelming, but that's why it's nice to have the footswitch to control it.

I remember comparing it to a Fender Blues Jr. or something similar is the store and just thinking the Vox was much better. Then, some old hippie walked by and said so too. Case closed.

Yes, that's what I meant. There reverb's digital, right? I assume the trem is, too.

If I bought an AC15 it would be mostly for the overdrive tone, but I have to play clean with a lot of effects on most songs. Of course, I could just an A/B switch for the two channels on the amp. I worry about the reliability, though, but I don't know enough to have a real opinion and I own a Hot Rod, so take that for what it's worth (i.e. nothing).

Pretty sure it's spring reverb which I thought was analog :idk:

I'm not sure about the newer revamped models though.

The AC15c1 has analog tremolo and an actual spring reverb tank.

Got mine for $200 plus a cab ride.

Tell me more.

:idk: Teh internets say it's a poorman's Vox. Sounds a little different to me, but still has that "British" sound. Maybe more like if Fender had been started in the UK?

And it takes pedals better than a Vox from what I've heard.

I'd keep an eye out for one to try, they're definitely a good deal, and I think they've been discontinued, so you might be able to haggle on the price if you see one at a music store. :thumb:

Wow.
That actually sounds more like what I want. :!!!:
Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

It's also the only amp I've ever heard "pops" from in a store. I don't know how most people feel about them, but have you demoed a Blackstar? They're more on the Marshall side of things, though.

Blackstar are the worst thing to happen to amps in forever. I seriously hate everything I've tried they put out.
They sound so... wrong. :?: I don't get it.
I also don't find them very marshally at all. I just find the voicing on all of them super generic.
Realllly not my cup of tea. :idk:

This seems really strange, but relevant. I'm confused. Is the AC30VR like a combo tube/solid-state amp like the AD line? Is this why they are selling it for basically the same price as an AC15?

The weirdest part of this story is that I noticed this as a banner ad while looking up recipes for rhubarb juice. I was all :wha?:

Yep it's kinda like the valvetronix...it's SS preamp, run into a 12ax7 run as a semi-poweramp thingy and then run through another SS power amp.

Honestly I'd rather have the tubes for that kinda $$$...
I'm not a snob a tube snob ( axe fx), I just think for $550 it should either have a full tube power section or more models/effects/fxloop.
It seems pretty stripped down/not priced competitively for what you get.

Though I did play one in a store, it does sound pretty good.
