Personally I sold my 616 as it was very "chime-y", I don't know if that is clock noise or what ever but it was totally loud when the delay was increased and it wasn't really useable except for really noise clouds of ambient sound......

same i thought it was way too loud and way too clear
good modern analog delay for anyone thats into it

Seriously? I can understand not wanting the "clean" analog repeat sound. But too loud? Did any of you guys adjust the trim pot? It's a volume control.

When I first got mine I was like WTF? Volume boost? Then I read. And boom.

Oh, and I JUST sold my 616 to fund a 919. Then I read about availability. So I'll be without analog delay for a few months. But I'll get my guitar situation figured out in the meantime.

I've never owned the 616 but I know several who do, and in every case adjusting the trim pot was a must.

I do own the E600B and E600D and they are easily the best analog delays in my arsenal. If the feature laden 919 can approach those two, I'll be in analog delay heaven.

I don't mean the pedal was too loud) I meant the clicking thump that accompanied every repeat was noticeable and annoying when the delay was turned past 9:00, just too noticeable....... I sold it to a guy on craigslist for 20 dollars less than I paid for it and used the $ to fund a down payment on my guitar......... he even emailed me a week later to let me know how happy he was with it, so different strokes for different folks..........

Yea, I had an E600B and sold it when I got my 616. I like the ability to get bold repeats (louder than my guitar) when I want. 600B was great but 616 was more my cup of tea. Only gripe about the 616 is it's lack of "ambience" which I have a feeling the 919 will address. :excellent:

Yea, that would be a deal breaker for me too, clicking is no good. Used to have a Small Stone that had LFO click when bypassed, soooooo annoying, it had to go as well.

I actually prefer the 600D to the B, but they're both really sweet. The TB/Buf option is nice too, really changes the character of the delay. I agree with the lack of "ambience" with the 616 but it is a nice pedal for the price...I too have my fingers crossed that Malekko will remedy the shortcomings of the 616 with the release of the 919, and not just the obvious ones like tap tempo.

Lastly, I can't believe there are no clips of this thing from NAMM, WTF?

There aren't many clips from pedals released on NAMM as far as I know, that surprised me a bit, when I compare it to other NAMM editions..

My SS does that from time to time and one of the awesome dudes here was like "just open it up and blow on the colour switch" and it cleared it up perfectly..... hahahah I never would have thought of that........ I was ready to take it outside and throw it at some birds or whatever.......

That's hilarious, wish I'd known that before shipping mine off! I've since acquired a nano SS and it's quiet for now but if it ever acts up, I know my first plan of attack...blow on the color switch.

hmmm so here's the question...the 919 or the new DMM/tap tempo and awesome.

"Electro-Harmonix has now created the ultimate Deluxe Memory Man equipped with Tap Tempo, Expression Control and an Effects Loop. Adding Tap Tempo ensures that you will always be in sync with the groove, wherever your performance takes you, while five Tap Divide subdivisions deliver rhythmic variation. The Expression Pedal Input provides real time control over Blend, Rate, Depth, Feedback and Delay. The Effects Loop lets you insert effects into your wet signal without changing your dry signal, making the Deluxe Memory Man with Tap Tempo the most powerful analog delay ever designed."

Sounds good on paper, but we'll have to see how it REALLY sounds. Even still 919 is cheaper and has better features IMO.

Plus it doesn't look like a clown struggling with major depressive disorder designed the layout of the 919........

that sir, is an excellent observation...both seem like pretty interesting units. i guess we'll have to wait and see. that whole diffusion thing sounds pretty awesome tho on the 919....
