i talked to one of the guys at the ehx booth about the new circuits. its gonna be pricey, list price was 504 dollars, dont know what is gonna be street price

Hmm... i'll wait till I see the guts to beleive it, there stock of MN3008 Panasonics must be running low by now so converting to the 320X series that are plentiful and in production seems logical, unless they are having more produced, but then i'd expect they'd be back on the market.

I can see the circuit being closer to the Original Memory man but converted to those chips instead of fairly different like the Toy & Boy pedals, also... it's only 9V from preliminary pictures so unless there is internal voltage conversion, I doubt it's the 300X series.

$378 street...25% off list is the EHX standard. The Mad Ape has started listing them for that price.

when i seen it i was more curious as to which chips there gonna move too and if something newer and cheaper how it would affect the circuit

Well the Toy & Boy use the BL3208 chip which is a lower voltage Delay chip, actually a clone of the MN3208, it's got a bit less headroom so can clip a bit easier but runs off a lower voltage, some claim those old higher voltage chips are key to the sound.

Dunno why no one has cloned the higher voltage chips, guess they're just easier to use as they don't need special power supplies when we're all used to 9V Batteries now.

EHX did buy up massive stocks of the High Voltage chips in the past, but they've run out of 3005 and moved to 3008 so I just don't see them designing a whole new product around a chip that is running out and they can't have THAT many and as far as i'm aware, there are no other High Voltage Alternatives available today.

Don't seem likely and buying them is near impossible, I luckily have one spare for repairs and one in my Memory Man, probably gunna sell that though to fund my new amp... that or Food & Electricity.

I'm almost wondering if I should buy a backup DMM in case anything ever happens to mine.......

You just need a good repair guy on call with the appropriate parts, Panasonic BBDs thankfully don't die too often, although it can happen, unless you have a 70s Deluxe Memory Man (Blue Model) In which case it uses the Reticon SAD1024 which break a bit more in my experience (although hard as they are to get, they seem more available than MN3005 now)

It's usually the clock chips, caps or the Transformer & Voltage Regulator chip if your memory man has one that die.

There also work arounds (Using two of the very slightly more available MN3008 in place of one 3005)

Now if you have a pedal with a Reticon SAD4096 in it, you're in the shit, thankfully very few pedals use them.

I plan to clone the original Memory Man with modern available components at some point (someone is undertaking this but I beleive they're making changes to the design).

I'll just be real careful.......

Nah, a DIYer, 'Madbean' is on the case right now. Didn't know BJFE had undertaken such a thing, mine is gunna be a project for the DIYers anyway, as is Madbeans but as I said, he's making some changes to the design I think.

Mine is gunna be stock as possible with the obvious voltage changes, like all of my vintage revivals, gunna start with my Memory Man Echo/Chorus with Boost which is rare as egyptian shit.

i kinda feel like the killswitch sorta is... less useful than an actual killswitch.

i'll probably buy it anyway though.

or just wait until they decide to make a freeze where you can bank drones. couple that with a loop pedal and you could have some fun

Well, I think those are some great pedal ideas! People already heard them. Haven't seen clips or demo's yet.. Were they playable on NAMM yet?
