This just got me thinking of how funny it would be if God truly existed and was all like:

WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM (EARTH)? I SHOW MYSELF CLEAR AS DAY ALL THE DAMN TIME AND YOU PEOPLE SAY "OH, IT'S JUST A COINCIDENCE." DA FUCK?

Like I kiiiiiiiiinda look like horse, yeah, but really I'm just old and have a super-long beard and like bad posture and a hunchback but I'm still shooting universe out of my chest and back all day and it's purple when it's new so like come on!

I love this stuff too, these images are just amazing. I love the pictures that show multiple galaxies or attempt to define the boundaries of the universe, I love the idea of mapping out the universe like ancient oceanographers, making maps of the edges of the known world. To think of the hundreds of billions of galaxies out there, each with hundreds of billions of stars being orbited by hundreds of billions of planets... the universe is so flippin cool.

*edit* sorry guys, I didn't notice how much that big picture was screwing up the thread. I put in a smaller picture of galaxies... gobs of them!

1 quark/lepton per 300000000 particle couples out of symmetry and BAM.

Space is mindbogglingly interesting and beautiful. 2 or 3 days ago there was a partial eclipse at 9 AM. First time ever I was glad I woke up early.

Ryan, that picture has made me sit down and catch my breath a few times. It certainly has the qualities to trigger the feelings of Massive, Unimaginable, and Alienating in it, doesn't it?

...fuck, getting the philosophical existentialist crisis :wha?: for the crushing feeling of the lonely insignificance when all around us is lifeless and threatening cold darkness, and the sheer unimaginable distances that makes everything theoretically known feel pretty much unknown. Better take the journal and write lyrics.

Oh, and Laibach makes this song, too, sound somehow foreboding underneath all its disneyeqsque la-la-lah

i grew up during the era when the space race was taking place, and i've never lost the sense of wonder i had as a little kid sitting on the living room floor watching those guys climbing into those tiny craft and getting shot off into HOLY CRAP!!1! they're in SPACE!!eleventy! :!!!: i was just watching something on the telly the other night where they were talking about solar radiation--the "solar wind"--and how it's being measured by the Voyager spacecraft that were launched back in...1977. i thought it was really cool, because i remember when they launched them, with the golden phonograph records with Earth music including Chuck Berry playing "Johnny B. Goode" aboard. and the uber-primitive tech of that time is still working. did you know that a digital watch has more processing power than one of the Apollo spacecraft?

It's powerful, hey, the thought of exactly what we live in. I love it! I love the thought of what lies outside the edges of the universe.. what is the universe expanding into... what was there before the big bang... not that I buy into that whole big bang thing but what a pondering!

I really want to map the universe.. go to the edges, try the burgers, I'm really curious what it's like out there.

Would ave loved to be an astrophysicist but got sidetracked into chemistry and hijacked into molecular biology, so I went the other direction in terms of scale.

Man... Dr. Scientist is cool. I don't know why I don't own any of his/your pedals. Frazz Dazz?

Also:

Can we get a smiley that is like the thing where you move your index finger really fast up and down your lips? That would be great for those Scale Of The Universe videos.
