If you are an Indie rock/Pitchfork media type, you know all about that album. But for anyone outside that sort of cork-sniffing community, probably hasn't heard of it.
Yeah, my friend recommended that album to me a while ago, but I still haven't listened to it(three of us did a "Favorite 20 Albums" swap). I'll probably love it, or hate it. His other recommendations I listened to I thought were shit. He likes folk, I like noise and 70's prog. Our tastes only converge at random indie-rock bands.
And Pitchfork is really hit or miss for me. On one hand, they pick up a lot of good indie-rock early. On the other, they like Kanye West and M.I.A.. That's a pretty heinous offense in my mind. They really aren't as elitist as people make them out to be. In fact, they're rather music-whorish.
And so this post isn't just rambling:

Sonny Motherfucking Sharrock. The Jimi Hendrix of free jazz. If you're a guitarist and you don't know who Sonny Sharrock is, go get this album or one of his band, Last Exit's live albums, like the following piece of awesome...
