But with that and pedals and DIY fund and PC fund and other necessities I'll have 2 gorgeous squiers but no 'proper' guitars
I swear to god I have yet to find a 500/600$ strat better than my slightly modded squier affinity. But no no no if it don't say Fender you can not be a good guitarist or have decent tone.
I think the Squier stigma is fading - the Vintage Modifieds and Classic Vibes kick all kinds of ass.
I use a VM Jazz Bass, and it's great. Bright, as it's all maple, but it plays flawlessly.

Fo' sho. Those Vintage modified basses are badass.

i would love that duo sonic but I am a burly dude who would look weird with a shortscale guitar. I have huge hands too so those necks always feel like toys to me. I could buy it for my wife though!

I have all kinds of want for one of the Squier fretless Jazz Basses; i've played one, and it killed. i vote for "fuck guitar douchebaggery." but if i had $250-ish in untrammeled free equipment bucks to blow, i'd get a Moog ring modulator or a Subdecay Prometheus, because i'm a sick fuck

Monkeyboard wrote:Also buy that teisco. I would buy it but shipping to holland would be a 100$ and import taxes another 60$. Besides he needs the money more than your average TGPer
I would, but I just shelled out $450 for a jazzmaster that is being shipped either today, tomorrow, or the next day. /bragging
Does anybody know if you can still get those Danelectro '59s anywhere? Those always seemed awesome and they were only $150 or less.
This looks like it might be awesome

Well maybe that comes with value of opinion.
A 50 year old blues nut who's like the sage of a texas village and swears by squiers might be acknowledged. Same for a 20-25 year old building great pedals. But if you're some student playing in a band..
But fuck that really. I'd love a MIJ/MIA Jazzmaster but it's out of my budget. Not all squiers are good but with some looking you can find real pearls among them. Might take a set-up or a new set of pick-ups but heh.
But there's also another good point made on that squier shortscale. I was described by a fellow ILFer as a giant so it might be a little uncomfy.

Nah. I'm sure if I was in a band or something that my bass would be frowned upon by the cool kids with their MIM basses. I would respond with fuzz. Walls of it.
I wouldn't let the short scale throw you on the Duo though - It's a smaller guitar, but unless you're a HUGE guy it would probably look fine on you.

I got my Tele Deluxe for 200 as well. I was so surprised with the price and didn't understand why. It's in mint condition and works great. Fun guitar. It has my favorite strat tones and tele tones.

Nick cave has this exact guitar. Buy it and you might get some tang. Or not.
