You know, masturbation may be really awesome, but I don't wanna watch someone do it on stage.

That sums up my feelings on "guitar virtuosos".

Dudes this is supposed to be a 'Gear' forum discussion area not a guitarist insult pile on forum. Now go practice and make some music instead of noise.

 It's okay steve!

I think everyone is entitled to like one or two technically impressive guitar players. My preference for "fast finger wizards" is Satriani! I think what Yngwie does is cool, but I have very little interest in it.

I read more about scalloped fretboards and learned I have the WORST technique :( But that's okay, because it works for me. I also read it's good for playing eastern music, are you interested in anything like that Steve? I'd like to know how it sounds for that.

you are right. no one is talking shite about the guitar, just the wingnut that plays it which is typical of any discussion involving yngwie.
surely you've noticed that before.
most of us practice making (hopefully) interesting noise to place inside music. :thumb:

back to the topic at hand..... scalloped frets.
i have 2 with scalloped frets. one from the factory and one i did myself. i like the one i did myself as it's a very light scallop and most don't realize it is indeed scalloped. with the heavy strings i use (11-58 tuned to pitch) it's not really much different.
granted i'm not a fast nimble fingered guy so maybe that combined with the heavy strings is why i don't notice it as much.

i'm down with anyone that can play their ass off, however i don't listen to it.
jeff beck is the guitar hero is like, but fuk man...all those bitches can play....

Yes I like eastern sounding music as well as Greek bouzoukia music too. It would be interesting to play that style on a scalloped guitar since many of the songs are using harmonic minor and phrygian scales like Yngwie does. Without an Yngwie then I wouldn't have this fine signature instrument of his. For something eastern sounding listen to this album bonus track I found on Youtube called Treasure From The East:

anyone who keeps vintage guitars that most people can't afford in a pile on the ground is subject to as much abuse as i feel necessary. one of the first 10 strats in existence deserves a little better treatment than that.

Totally agree. Well my day would have been a little bit better had this thread not reminded me that Shwingway is still alive. People like him cause others to have substance abuse problems. ugh...chops.

Yeah, c'mon guys. Let's cut the shit and practice our Phrygian mode.

Now where did I put my Shoegazer?

Everyone has their style of playing... whether you're Yngwie (did I spell it right?) or Thurston. So chill out guys.
