Also..if your cabs are side by side, and theirs are stacked, theirs are gonna seem louder, because they are up in the air/in your face.

yeah something's seriously fucked with your setup or maybe you're going deaf because damn homeboy... that's a lot of fucking amp. are your cabs matched to the ohmage of your amp, because if not, you'll lose a ton of power that way.
in any case, 2 amps will almost certainly be waaaaay louder, though.

If two 100 watt amps arent loud enough, there's something wrong with your cabs.
I can drown out a whole band with an 85 watt Twin.

+1

Back in the day when I was playing live a lot I had a ampeg B2R 250 watt head that used to blow full stacks out of the water because I had an 8 x 10 fridge that matched it.

Lemmy from Motorhead uses the same wattage........... so there is something wrong with the cabs you are pairing with your heads.

Check your jacks in the back and make sure your cables are all in good order.

the orange cabs have V30's in them. each rated 240watts @ 16Ohms. the amp taps are on 16Ohms, no mismatch.
maybe it is the midscoop of the marshall that helps his seem so loud.
I amp playing synth (through pedals) into there, so i'm pretty full range and don't really want to change my EQ.
but the EQ is a very probable reason for the lower volume.
nothing is broken
the shits fucking loud.
it's just not loud enough.
how can I get from 110dB to 115dB?!

those arent great heads for keys...
i think a 200 watt head might actually be better
maybe a bass rig?

Oh yeah your playin keys get a bass head and a 215 cab go for 300+ watts
or a power amp I guess it all depends on what kind o keys your playin stereo?

Usually i've found Solid State Better for keys, tone and volume wise...

And if you're putting in a processed signal, why tube it really.

Behringer really do some sweet amps key & Bass wise, they'll perform night after night and penny pinch nicely.

+1 I had an ultrabass 4500 for a couple years and was happy with it especially for the price. it also had a sub function on it that sounded really cool with keys

Yeah the idea is cool but tube guitar amps always disappoint with synths.

For what you sell those oranges for you could buy a very loud bass head.

well, i totally disagree with the statement about tube amps and synths, but i guess it depends on what kind of sound you're going for. what kinds of sounds are you using?

personally, i aim to get my keyboard sounds to take the place of a guitarist, so tube amps work really well for me and give a nice gentle amount of amp distortion. i use a nord stage through a fender twin and can make it louder than anyone else on the stage if i want to, though.

115db? seriously? that's louder than an entire band. where are you playing that you need it to be that loud??

this. with a nord 3.
I never see the need for a stereo rig live since stereo never delivers properly to the audience
for recording it's neat, but i don't need the volume in that situation
we're going for Neurosis meets Earth :idk: . heavy but not metal.

a quad KT-88 amp has always been a dream. guess i'll have to dream for two of em
I'm probably gonna try out an SVT classic in the next few weeks and throw a monarch back onto my board for that orange tone...

Scruffie wrote:Usually i've found Solid State Better for keys, tone and volume wise...

solid state is not an option now that i've had a few tube amps.
it's one of those "can't ever go back" type things.

I wasn't trying to make too sweeping of a generalization, a Moog getting some nice tube clipping can sound like liquid sexy. I'm just not entirely convinced it's the way to go if your intention is to cut through the mix, especially against a guitar.

Once again, maybe some good compression in your signal chain could make ya boom, it's probably your cheapest option so worth thinking about.
