maybe the second starve has something to do like the fuzz factory

one starves the power and one starves a tranny

he wanted to build something like a fuzz factory i was reading somewhere
:idk:

dune2k wrote:Usually on Fuzz Face type circuits the bias control is working on the second transistor, since this is the one that clips (and fuzzes ;)). The first one basically only boosts.

That's not -quite- true, in the case of a fuzz face. The voltage at the emitter of the second transistor is the same as the collector of the first (roughly), and it's feeding that back through the whole circuit through that 100K resistor. So, in a way, the first transistor is also driving itself!

I kind of feel like that 2.2uF electro should be flipped around, but I don't really see why it couldn't be omitted all together.

I owned a WC and i can't remember the electro cap in it?!?BTW is this schem has been verified??

Wolf Computer gut shot. So, the electro isn't there, apparently.

eatyourguitar wrote:^this=Next pedal im building after my parallel universe is finished. Here is a stupid question for ya. On the super deluxe wolf there is another starve knob. 2 starve knobs wtf?

I found the actual description:

V_____ wrote:Ok, as promised (though a little late) I made a (lengthy) demo of my new Mellowtone Pedals.

Anyway, the story behind these is Eric and I had talked about building me a two channel/stereo wolf computer a long time ago and after a lot of troubleshooting and trips back and forth, we ended up making the original pedal into two separate custom Wolf Computers. I think Eric and I decided to call them Alpha Wolf Computer and Beta Wolf Computer.

These Wolf Computers have some neat features that the regular ones do not, like:
6 Knobs:
Volume
Fuzz
Bias
Sag
Fine (Fine tuning of sag voltage)
(Pre)Boost
Independent Boost and Fuzz circuits.
Expression Input to control Sag/Voltage
Spiffy Diptych Artwork
Compute (instead of bypass) Switch

The result? An easier to use, more versatile, and really cool-sounding fuzz pedal that has a pre-boost so you can have a much wider range of gain/tonal options.

No electro. No 2.2uf in the thing!

Also, regardless of Mellowtone's position on it, ILF's DIY forum is not for cloning small builders' in-production pedals. (Yes, whether I stock them or not, asshole.)

I apologize if I broke some ethic rules. My intention were never to do so!! I love the WC and I love building pedals (for what I could do, 1 out of 3 actually work!!). So instead building a fuzz face that I won't use for myself!!! But if it is not authorized, I'd rather keep the good fellowship then being view as an as.......so I'll use my enclosure for something else!!!

My goal is to make one for myself....not to sell....I love building pedals but my knowledge of electronics is about none. I owned the WC and was amaze by the simple circuit it was....so easy that I could build one!!! On another end, I respect the people who does not want their product being copied and let people making cash off of it. I know there is a debate over many forums about cloning and whether it is right or wrong (some good and bad points on either side)...but I don't wanna cause trouble....I could have cloned it while I had it and secretly made them like probably some people do but that is not my goal.....

So you're saying that any builder that doesn't goop his circuits is essentially asking to have his/her circuits ripped off and profited on by others? I think that's a little dickish. Eric gooped his earlier circuits - I have Singing Tree #1 and it has that crap on it but that doesn't mean that since the newer ones might not have it that he's okay with ppl cloning them now. As for going on public forums and telling what it is, why not just use those forums for this sort of thing? I think Tom stated pretty clearly that it would not be cool to continue to try to clone this pedal here on ILF and as a user of Mellowtone's gear and a general friend to all hard-working builders, I'd like to put in my $0.02 as saying that it's absolutely not cool to try to profit from somebody's circuits without their EXPLICIT consent. Just because someone's not around, doesn't give you the go ahead to do whatever you like. If you were performing on stage and went to the bar for a drink, would it be cool for me to come up and start playing your gear?

Also, it's not really a secret clone if you post that you're going to secretly clone it. :p

Listen, just be patient man. I'm certain that you'll find a real WC soon. Did you see the one in b/s/t? Also, Tom will have some in stock very, very soon. :)*

+1

Mellowtone offers awesome pedals at guilt-inducingly low prices, and the pedal-making business is pretty stressful from what I've gathered from my dealings online. If Eric decides to take it slow and release batches occasionally as he gets time to build more, that's cool with me (personally I would wait like two years for a miracle rabbit if it comes to that). Be patient, buy used, sell body parts, but don't clone the wolf unless you have explicit permission to

Fuzzmax--I know it wasn't your intention to profit off them or do anything shady! There's nothing ethically wrong with building one for your own use.

eatyourguitar wrote:If eric ever decides to come down from the mountain, quite literlally, and answer my email asking to buy one, then i really dont need to secretly build one for myself and not post it here. No harm done either way. If he didnt want us to know whats in it, he would goop. And he would not go on a public forum telling us what the circuit is. This pedal is actually not in production. Same thing with the parallel universe. Collin made me do it. I have thank these people for refusing to take my money cause now i love diy and i wouldnt be doing it if it werent out of necessity.

If Eric or Tom want to chime in on if were allowed to post, build, sell wolfs that would be helpful

Take it easy, man. Eric's probably cool with people building one for their personal use, since he's talked about the circuit publicly. I get that. But this DIY forum isn't for cloning in-production circuits. That's the ILF rule, which is why I said "regardless of Mellowtone's position on it, ILF's DIY forum is not for cloning small builders' in-production pedals."

Eric's been on break for some good reasons, and I think has been without internet access for a good portion of that time. Thus the lack of email responses.

And sorry, but the pedal IS in production, despite a few month's break. There is a box of Wolf Computers in the mail to me that will be in stock in a matter of days.

Rest assured--I'm not doing this so I can sell my WC stock instead of letting you building one. The people who want real, official Wolf Computers will buy the official ones. So no worries on my end. It's just that ILF's DIY forum isn't going to get into cloning in-production circuits by small builders. Unless that small builder posted the info themself.

Seriously, you're totally welcome to build one for yourself--PM people from this topic and work out the clone for yourself...go on a forum that allows deconstructing and cloning...email people who have WC, etc.

And no, please don't build and sell Wolf Computers! :trippy:
