Incidentally, last night (3rd gig with the algal bloom) we had some of the worst on stage sound I've ever had, ever... but there were a few video clips shot. I'm told the house sound was much better than the stage sound, but I haven't seen the vids yet. I'll post some if they turned out!

I'm glad you are liking the bloom. I just couldn't justify it with a snowdrift, twosome, and gnomeratron. I was using it mostly for its lower gain fuzzies sounds which the snowdrift does better imo.

As promised, here's a vid from Sunday night of me Gothin' it up with the algal bloom. Sound quality on stage was HORRID. House sound was a bit better. I uploaded this to vimeo because the club was DARK, so the video is DARK, and I figured vimeo would make the best of that.

Quick question: can this oscillate? Like crazy oscillation, a la Fuzz Factory, AB Synth, etc.
I recently discovered this pedal and I'm quite astonished at the range of sounds that people are getting out of it!

oscillation really isn't my thing. anyone else care to weigh in?

i've come to the conclusion that of all the various fuzzes i've been listening to on demos, the one i really NEED to fill out the current arsenal is an Algal Bloom. there's something about that sound that's just irresistable. it's warm even when it's prickly, gritty, and nasty, y'know?

BTW, what is that chord progression at ~3:00 in the more recent AB demo on the fuzzhugger.com site? the C#m->A->E->Bsus thing? it sounds awfully familiar, and i'm so totally going to steal it.
