So it retains the lows then?
Good question...
Yes. Or, creates lows. Or, sounds like getting beaten up by trash. Or, an amp about to just break. I love it so so so so so much.

A well-prepared and motivated Eric would have a video demo ready to just slap here as a response. Alas, I do not. But it's changed my playing style, I might be making the switch to drop D, just because HOW FUCKING GOOD the D sounds through it. Super dynamic. It reacts like an amp, because....it IS a preamp in a box.
And, I fixed your post :D
Demo up by Monday, I'm hoping. Gotta do up my EXAR demos too.

Not to be an ass, but if you're going to correct grammar, you should probably spell the word in question correctly.

Bass players...

Edit: I should probably add something useful, but since I don't play bass I don't think my opinion on this issue carries any weight. I do love Catalinbread, so I'd vote for the SFT. It is based on a Ampeg, and from what I've heard bass + Ampeg =

. The bass player in my old band used to run '72 Tele bass -> Sansamp -> SVT Classic -> 6x10 Ampeg, and it sound balls awesome.

It's absolutely true. I mean, my band plays in D standard for a reason....

This is one of the main reasons why the SFT was on my original list, I used to be an Ampeg man but I found that tube style and warmer pre amps were my bag. However the SFT has a lot to offer and it is right at very sweet price point. It sounds so dreamy with the gain cranked to max settings. Every distortion mentioned thus far has been completely awesome so far The Rusty Box, HBE Hematoma, and the SFT are in my top 3 right now. The only thing I don't like about the rusty box is that it has wonky power requirements. I am holding fast until the end of october and I am determined to do so. The input has been awesome and I love you guys.

its been really helpful in pointing me in the right directions.
And on another note, Drop D does sound bad ass. Matter of fact playing Drop D on the ECT = brutal.
