So what's the appeal/story or whathaveyou about these? I know the strings are different and its ugly as all hell, but what else? I guess I'm confused at to why it has to look like that instead of more traditional, while retaining the other elements of it's "individuality."

there was a mark II that had more of a steinberger body but 80 of those were made. (according to what i've read....i'm no expert by any means)
why a half scale bass was made is beyond me... ... prob had as much to do with ease of travel than anything else.
